The hawks scout the trees during the day and the next morning they strike.
Now this is a Harrier Hawk hunting in the town suburbs and he knew where the prey was.
Early morning at sunrise I had a doctor's appointment and upon the return to our new place, I saw this hunt by a Harrier Hawk. The hunt took place in a high tree right opposite our house and I was lucky to spot the hawk fleetingly. So I grabbed my camera and waited, as I knew that there was something in the tree that the hawk wanted.
Did I tell you that it was sunrise?
This was when I saw the hawk at first as he took off from the tree, but I knew that he would be back.
Bang! I waited and the hawk returned to sit on the roof next to the tree.
Now watch the hunting procedure below.
Oh yes, he knew exactly where the nest was, climbed into the tree, fetched his prey, and returned to the roof.
I will end it here, as I am sure you don't want to see a small dove being ripped apart.
Thank you for watching the hunt with me, and we were blessed to be shown this new arena right opposite our new home. So obviously for the next couple of days, my eyes will be glued to that tree until I become used to it and accept it as just an ordinary part of life. It seems that one can move anywhere in this area and there will always be some wildlife around. I was very happy to get this hunt, and hope that you also found it interesting.
And That's All Friends.
