The Story( and face ) Behind Hypersensitivosaurus

in #hive-1962333 years ago

They say that a picture ( sometimes ) says more than a thousand words. Although I am usually more of the 1000 words type and I used to study film, I won't disagree with this statement.

So, today, instead of penning down 2 pages of words, I will share a bunch of photographs, with as few words as possible explaining them.

¯_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯

Me, puzzled, after having discovered a freckle on the bridge of my nose, inbetween my eyes.

My youngest sister later told me that I should drink more Coca Cola ( after my remark that I'm getting 'rusty' ).

I once heard somewhere that freckles are rusty tips of our ( steel ) nerves.

P.S. This is just my selfie face. I discovered that freckle when I checked my picture.

Imperfect pancake.jpg

I baked this (im)perfect pancake, this morning. I enjoyed not filling the entire pan, and baking pc's that weren't round. This little one tasted perfect.

I deviated from the recipe of Hypersensitivosaurus, in my stories: today's pancakes didn't include oatmeal and they did include ( fresh ) eggs from the friends that I spent New Year's (eve ) at.

That is, 'their chickens'. My friends don't lay edible eggs.

new road.jpg

I discovered a new path, today, while on a walk. It was kind of a climb but my legs are made for walking and - in the end - it was exactly what I needed to compensate for spending way too much time indoor, sitting down.

I also picked up some trash, and even found an empty trash bag to store it in, which made me feel even better about my walk. I plan to go back there, to pick up more, soonish.

hill.jpg

The hill underneath my ( rental ) house, with a cork oak in the middle of the frame and some small mountains / high hills in the distance. This picture was taken yesterday afternoon, before the rain clouds and change in weather arrived.

trees with a view.jpg

Trees with a view.

Fun Fact: 'Trees' is a Dutch name, very old fashioned. It makes me think of an old woman that pinches your checks. Let's call her 'Auntie Trees' ( pronounced as 'Trace' ).

That white thing with the triangular top is my house. This photo was taken, this afternoon, when I returned from my walk. The clouds are approaching rain. It looked more threatening, darker, in real life.

And then I found this close up, that is more focused on the rain clouds and less on my house.

After returning home, I put all of my indoor plants on my terrace and doorstep, so they could soak up some natural water.

I just remember that I should probably take them in, again, before darkness sets in and wind and more rain might make life difficult for them.

Let me end things here, with a picture of my terrace/ patio, taken just now. The art on the wall has been made by the owner of the house, who is a painter. He's happy to know that his house is rented by a fellow creative.

I see I ended up with a little over 500 words. Not too bad, especially as it includes a number of jokes.

Sort:

And good jokes to boot.

I am not sure what you mean with "to boot"
but it seems like you appreciate good jokes, when you see them ;<)

Muchas gracias e saludos desde Portugal!

Es una especie de "para completar" en ingles, i mean, is like saying "and they are good, just to add" but boot is refering "in addition" in bad internet english :D

As you know portuguese them we can undertand eachother on spanish and portucao.

Thank you for explaining this. I figured it out, afterward. English might be my second language but there's still phrases / expressions that I never heard of :<)

Gracias!

Jejeje!

Saludos!

Nice to see the face of hypersensitivosaurus, I was expecting a few mosquito bites alongside the freckle 😅

Nice little tour and way to shake things up and do something different 👍

Haha, they prefer my elbows and I guess the freshly installed mosquito net helps ;<)

Cheers for coming by, again, buddy!

Imagine if your friends did lay edible eggs?

Cool house!

Imagine if your friends did lay edible eggs?

I'm getting there ( (I have a vivid imagination )
I just don't want to picture the shit on those eggs ;>)

It's not a bad house, to say the least. Part of me is considering to buy it, in the future, but only if my crypto holdings go x5 - 10 ( not impossible ) and if I still feel like doing so, by then.

Cheers!

Gaaaaar!!! That is too good an imagination. I am haunted by the vision of shitty eggs now!!!

Fingers crossed for done 10X action!

So good to see your face, my friend! And also those wonderful landscapes, plus the short captions of the experiences involved! Happy New Year! 2022 comes with a lot of changes, may they find you always prepared and increasingly stronger!

Muchas gracias, Javier e igualmente! Let's say that 2022 got off to an interesting start, to say the least.
I am going through a profound phase of self discovery and I am mainly enjoying the ride.

Un abrazo!

That pancake kind of looks like a heart. :^)

Hey buddy, nice to see you on my timeline for a change :<)

I had to ponder your remark for a while and then I realized you meant the actual 'heart' shape, not ♥️

You have a point there, haha!

Hey there Vincent great to see you lovely natural surroundings in the photos. It looks like the landscape here in the south coast region of South Africa - same color vegetation, though your trees are bigger. Here it's smaller bush, perhaps because it is drier.

Glad you liked it, Julian :<)

I remember us talking about similarities, before.

It can be pretty dry here, but as we are about 100km away from the coast and inbetween hills and mountains, I'm sure it rains a lot more here. Plus the land isn't ( particularly ) salty.
It's kind of sandy and clay-y, though, and there is parts with dune like vegetation.

The big trees ( mainly eucalyptus and cork oak ) are, unfortunately, planted for industrial reasons and burn easily. Eucalyptus, imported from Australia, is mainly used for toilet paper.

It doesn't make the trees less beautiful though.

We also have huge poplars nearby, they tend to grow near the river bank.

Aha, we also have Eucalyptus from Australia and it has become a weed now, hard to contain and invading all over while causing the indigenous flora to take more strain.

Right, it's a sad thing but we can't blame the tree for wanting to survive and possibly thrive.

So lovely to see you, freckle and all. In Ireland we see them as a sign of beauty!
I really enjoyed your photos and your writing, you sure made me giggle a little with your wording. Egg laying friends and all.
I love that house and it's surroundings and that path, I want to walk that path one day xxxxxx

Thank you and I like that perspective, although I'm not sure if one would count ;<)

Glad I made you giggle :<)

If you ever do, it would be fun to walk at your side.

I once heard somewhere that freckles are rusty tips of our ( steel ) nerves.

Is that really true? It's quite common to have freckles as a child but they usually disappear once you enter puberty. Anyway, we are all getting older and I don't like the signs of that sometimes either.

Nice surroundings and nice terrace/patio. I'm curious to know what that white thing is to the left in that picture? 🙂

Is that really true?

Hahaha! Saying that somebody has "nerves of steel" , is a way of expressing that they never feel under pressure ( but I think you might know that expression ) :<)

I sure had more freckles as a kid but - every now and then - they re-appear.
I don't see it as a sign of geting older but it reminds me of being young again, of my inner child :<)

Nice surroundings and nice terrace/patio. I'm curious to know what that white thing is to the left in that picture? 🙂

It is actually a dome/ a circus tent, where a couple of acrobats train and give classes.

This might sound like fun, but it's what leads has lead to a lot of tension between my ( other ) neighbor and them and something I have been involved in ( I might have spoken about this with you, before ), as their other neighbor, more than I'd like to.

I like my terrace, but would prefer to have more privacy ( the road passes right next to it and the walls aren't high enough haha ). First world problems, I know ;<)

Heyyy Vincent!
It's great to see the place where you live, seems like a good place with a lot of nature around.
And it was good to see you too! I recently noticed that the freckles on my nose are still there, although they used to disappear in the winter, at least in Germany. They do seem to have something to do with the amount of sunlight we're getting.

That pancake initially made me think of a guinea pig. Great work of art there in your pan!

I just started to blog again, and I still have a lot of reading up to do. I'm gonna work my way through your posts the next days and weeks to catch up, but I really hope your well <3

Welcome back, Ana :<)

Thank you for sharing your freckle story :<)

I am pretty well, most of the time, aside from often being tired.
But the latter is nothing new and I'm working on it.

I am curious whether you're still painting or planning to get back to it?

Big hug!

Being tired seems to be in the air at the moment, sleeping is a bit difficult here too.

I'd love to get back into painting, I miss it a lot, but we don't have enough power in the van to run my computer (a very old one with a battery that doesn't hold the charge anymore).
So for now I'm just doing a little sketching on paper from time to time until my housing situation changes again. Maybe we find another house-sitting somewhere, we'll see.

<3

Welcome back then! Feel free to post any random thoughts you have on this fun community here that I started! Lots of laughs abound.

There’s the Vin-miester himself! Looks like a beautiful area for sure, love going out for walks in that. Reminds me of Italy! Rain clouds and all lol

Vin-miester sounds even better than vin-meister ;^)

yes, that's me, haha!

How ( well ) do you know, Italy?

I love this post, dear @vincentnijman - thank you for taking us on your walk with you! It looks divine where you are living... I yearn to be in a landscape like this, and to have such walk straight out of my door... what a beautiful outside space with your landlord's painted wall too... :-D

Thank you, Clare.

I am sure your landscape is equally beautiful,
although you might need to walk a little to get there :^)

Yes - it's beautiful around my home, but mostly cultivated very intensively for olive oil and wine grapes - but a few minutes drive behind here gets me to wilder places... today a drive up the hill a bit to harvest some fresh water, and it was stunningly beautiful and only natural sounds: mmmmmm :-)

That sounds amazing
