🕺 Welcome to the Scholar and Scribe Invitational 🕺
The Invitational is our bi-weekly, super-duper, writing contest. It is where we match quills and draw blood all for the sake of the craft. We all know a 'friendly' competition never hurts anyone, much, especially when it can be used as a platform to improve your writing. 🙌

@kei2 - The Ritual
“Lah de vushka! Lah de vushka!” Nino chanted inaudibly as his voice trembled with the sound of rumbling. The ground shook and the wind began to bellow. Torn pages of the old worn-out book in his hand began flying in the air. Nino staggered two feet backward as streaks of lightning lined the dark graveyard sky.
🥈 Silver: 1 HSBI, 200 Ecency points4, 40 SCHOLAR, 2 SCRIBE
@alonicus - The Loch House
The reception area was thoroughly dated, but clearly cared for and tidy. John tapped the bell on the reception desk and they waited for someone to check them in. It didn't take long. A man came through from a back room. He was tall and slim, looking to be in his mid thirties or early forties, dressed in a brown suit. He saw the couple and their cases, and opened the black book sitting behind the counter.
🥉 Bronze: 100 Ecency points, 30 SCHOLAR, 1 SCRIBE
@stuartcturnbull - Drawn to the Truth
I nodded. A gruesome story. A mother died of cancer, leaving behind a father and two young daughters. The girls disappeared and, after weeks of the father appealing for the return of his daughters, he was arrested and charged with their murder. He committed suicide while on pre-trial detention.
🏅 Runner-Up: 75 Ecency points
@rdsmas - Destiny in the Waters
Iain, eyes gleaming with determination, leapt from the small boat onto the muddy bank of the island in the middle of Loch Mhòr. Behind him, William, his loyal companion, watched with a mix of admiration and worry, driving the oars into the water to finish beaching the boat. The mist swirled around them, creating a suffocating atmosphere that muffled all sound.
🏅 Runner-Up: 75 Ecency points
@rachie05 - THE STRANGE PRESENCE IN MY HOUSE
As Leslie walked down the hallway, she had this weird feeling that someone was watching her, she could literally feel eyes all over her body but she tried not to think about it because it was probably in her head or maybe it was one of those paranormal documentaries she watched that was playing out in her head and besides it was the first time she felt like that since they moved here two weeks ago.

The story you submit MUST adhere to the following prompts:
🎥 Genre: Horror
🎨 Theme: Vampires
We're continuing spooky month with another classic horror trope - vampires! Extremely spooky, I know. How you choose to portray these bloodsuckers is all up to you. Whether you choose to go the modern Twilight route or classic Dracula, just make sure you keep to the spirit of what makes a vampire a vampire. And of course, make it scary, please. It's called the spooky month for a reason. 😁
May the odds - and your creative energy - be ever in your favor!
