I just saw a full-page ad for Karate Combat on my Brave Browser. I opened a new page and BAM! there it was. I was so surprised to see anything Hive-adjacent, that it made me wonder if any of the larger players here have ever considered doing something like that for Hive?
I went to open a new page and was greeted with the full spread which took over the entire page. I wonder how much something like that costs? It brings back the memories I had of using Google AdSense to drive traffic to my old Blogger page. Optimizing the keywords and SEO back then was a nightmare as Google kept "updating" the parameters necessary to hit the digital mother lode.
Now when I try to introduce people to Hive I'll show them an account of someone who's doing well enough that it seems achievable, but not so far along that it would look to be impossible to reach.
Here's the ad:
The Importance of a Healthy 'Estimated Account Value'
I cannot stress the vital importance of that a meaty 'Estimated Account Value' has in highlighting what is possible on Hive. The Josediccus account for example is a good one to highlight. 16K account value, 76K HIVE, and almost 1K in savings.
He posts daily (and in English), so you can always tune in and discover something new. Longevity is important as well, and he's been here since 2017, so that's also a plus. Positive attitude, and his post earnings are reasonable enough that a new person can look at it and see himself replicating that with dive, consistency, and a little bit of luck.
That's why it's important to have Hivians that are in it for the long-term and have an owners mindset.
Aren't they trying something on Inleo with advertising? I haven't used the site in quite awhile, so I haven't kept up with what's going on over there. I'm just wondering if something like a Brave ad buy might be better than trying to weave something into legacy social media with all of the hoop-jumping you'd have to go through.
Blogger brought me here, but Facebook kept me here
I will never forget the day Facebook shut down my years-old account. I'd been promoting Steemit over there, and maybe somebody ratted me out, but I was notified that my account was being shut down because I wasn't using my real name as my handle.
Years of effort was gone in a flash, and thank God I had Steemit up and running as a backup I'd never thought I'd need. This is why I don't trust the socials, as you never know what they'll do with what you built on their platform (that you don't even own).
That's why we have Hive.
Like I've said in the past, I live in a crypto-resistant area. I can get them to look, but having them to bite is a whole nother story. Reports on the latest crypto scam are always in the news and that tends to easily scare them off.
Some people were also testing out X Premium, so I wonder how that's coming along. This Brave full-page ad just struck me because it hit me where I live. Open up a new page, and there it is. I can only assume it knows I have an interest in crypto due to my publishing on Hive, but I also tend to "like" Karate Combat tweets that I see on X, so I'm sure that's a factor as well.
Just trying to brainstorm ways to get more eyeballs on this place, as I believe we truly have something unique here. And in echos of that old anti-drug ad, I'd tweak it to say "Hive is a terrible thing to waste." Are there any proposals to support in this arena? What else are we doing to bring new people into Hive?
