The News
It is always a wild ride with crypto. With $BTC on the rise we can hope for better times with $HIVE. It has gone up. I saw someone despair that it was down several cents today, but it is still 10c up on a month ago and the trading volume is way up. To get sustained growth we need more people taking an interest in actually using it rather than just trading for a quick profit. You need some HP and/or HBD to get some income here and so you may choose to buy some $HIVE to do that. More active users benefits us all.
The Vibes music contest is going strong. I have not had time to enter again, but they are getting plenty of entries.
The @buzzparty event in Hamburg is next week. I see that thirty people are registered, which will be a good turnout. Any time that Hivers get together good things happen.
Friday Follows
- @ugochill has his new album out. Even if you do not buy it you can send some votes his way. It is a fact that a lot of people do not directly buy music these days, but Hive gives fans another way to support the artists they enjoy.
- The @stickupboys have a new Hive Engine token that is being used to raise funds to promote their music. Those who buy it will get paid a share of the profits. There you have another way for musicians and other creative people to use Hive.
- We all know the terrible things that are happening in Gaza. Regardless of the politics people are suffering. @girlofgaza is there and posting life there on Hive.
- @kommienezuspadt is a Hive OG who has created some great comic art and is also a fine photographer. His work is aimed at a mature audience, so be advised.

The Dog House
It should be obvious that Hive has issues with recruiting users, so we should try to avoid driving good people away. I have seen a couple of cases this week where the policing of abuse of Hive is having negative effects. One person may leave over the persecution on someone they support and another big investor is being pressured over how he generates his posts. The use of so-called AI tools is bound to be controversial, but it will get harder to detect as they get 'smarter'. It is up to the users of Hive to decide what content gets rewarded. If people are not clear about how they create it then they should be held to account, but the process has to be fair.
There are no official rules on Hive and nobody is in charge, but having a large stake does give you influence. It needs to be used responsibly. If someone accepts that what they were doing is against the spirit of Hive and changes their ways then I think they should be given a chance to redeem themselves.
We can all have some influence on this in the witnesses and proposals we support. Your stake gives you a say, but of course the big guns may have the final say. I would hope they have Hive's best interests to heart as they have the most to lose. I have said many times that every disgruntled user who 'rage quits' is likely to spread bad vibes.
The End
I have mentioned before that I want to do another local meetup, so I ought to get a date set. It may well be another walk and talk session, so will be weather dependent. I will aim to announce that soon. Anyone can arrange a meetup and it does not have to be a lot of work. The venue can be a pub or cafe that will be free to use and not need special booking. You just have to name a date and publicise it. I will share such announcements if I am made aware.
Hive five!
