Since it's a new month and maybe this one will be better than the last six, I've decided to come here on probably the quietest day of the year to show off some new art.
Now, I realize this is a stupid idea but I don't really care. I'm bored, I have some new work finished, and I just feel like writing a post, because I can.
To kick things off, I'd like to show you, the nonexistent viewer of this, Nothing:
It's Really Nothing
If you've been a friend, fan, follower, or even just some random asshole, you may have already seen Nothing. I've used it as a thumbnail before except this time I spent about two minutes making it look different so Nothing appears new.
Luckily you're not here so I can get away with that shit and do Nothing all I want.
And everyone else looking at the feed is going to see Nothing and be all like, "I'm not clicking Nothing!"
Could sit here and do Nothing all day and be totally safe.
But I think that's enough of Nothing for now.
Nothing gets old pretty fast, if you know what I mean.
Think you can do Nothing better?
I think everyone should be doing Nothing so if you feel like doing Nothing I say go ahead and try Nothing. Nothing is fun.
Wow. Sure is easy to say a whole lot about Nothing.
Moving On
The next thing you're about to see is below this sentence:
Pointless Swirly Goop
That's the name of that piece. I didn't spend too much time hiding things in there but I did spend some time hiding things in there.
If I was to describe my life this year so far I'd just point at that picture and say, "That's what happened."
Of course these days one has to be careful because someone might come along, have a look at the picture, see something I didn't put there, then get all pissed off with me for robbing a bank.
But I didn't rob a bank!
Of course these days it doesn't matter if you robbed the bank or not. If someone says you did, that's good enough for them.
Now would probably be a good time to mention how there's no actual bank robbery taking place anywhere in that image. I don't even know why I'm talking about bank robberies. It just kind of happened I guess.
I don't want to ruin that piece by explaining. Those familiar with my work will know where to look, how to look, why to look. It's just too bad so many of them aren't around.
Really I'm just sitting here talking to myself and becoming lonely so I thought I'd make a new friend:
I have not given him a name yet.
As some of you out there who aren't here know, I build these characters up from scratch. This guy took awhile. Was pissing around with that dude on and off since the second week of May.
Made a huge discovery today.
If you're one of the people that missed my previous post, you'd know I ran into a few issues upgrading my software. Krita is what I use. Some of the brushes and settings I always used were dropped in the newest edition.
Figured out I could access brushes from previous editions simply by activating them. Some of the stuff I needed was there the entire time; hidden.
I've been using Krita for six years yet there are still several buttons I haven't pushed yet. Pushed a button today which led to another button that when pressed opened a menu with more buttons. Stumbled directly into a miracle and now feel far more at home using this fancy new edition of Krita.
Krita is a professional FREE and open source painting program. It is made by artists that want to see affordable art tools for everyone.
They didn't pay me to say that.
I've been slowly teaching myself how to do all this stuff.
Every day, learn something new, then apply it. My oldest work is such shit compared to what I can come up with these days, but that's how it goes. I'm sure everyone out there reading — if you're actually here reading — can relate.
Relatable Ray!
That's what I'll name him. Getting my old brushes back certainly helped tie up a few loose ends and apply the finishing touches to Relatable Ray.
And then this happened:
Her name is Zuhdoo.
It's mostly a doodle, but then I got carried away. Added some eyes because why not. Gave it a mouth. Called it a day.
I can't really explain it. Things just happen like that sometimes.
