Introduction
@ablaze has been doing 3 tune Tuesday for quite a while and we love the idea of it and some of the posts @stickupmusic has been doing it but I though I would join in too. it is a great way to listen to new music which is always something we want to do!
Our picks
This week we are all about Blur the iconic "Britpop" indie band. Currently touring with a new album out it is great to see them getting back together to make some music. You can hear their influences from the sixties classic rock music and even more so the "mod" movement of the time. In their late nineties battle with "Oasis" to be the best Britpop band they came up with some classic songs. I think it is a testament to Damon Alburn's genius that he kept moving forward musically when he formed the Gorillaz and that Oasis only every copied the Beatles.....controversial decision but Blur won that battle hands down every time.
Song 1
So we put "Song 2" as song 1....just to mess with your head. Now this is a classic little song being learnt by beginner drummers and guitarists across the world. It is quite a simple song and I have no idea what it is all about but it is so catchy with a classic riff and an iconic woo hoo...what more do you want?
Song 2
Ok now "Parklife" has got a swagger about it that not many songs can boast, again with a great guitar riff. With that mod feeling and the brilliant talking of the OG mod Phil Daniels. It just works well, not only that it is a real football shout which you can join in with! It is also a classic video of its time. It is interesting the blend of the vocals on this one and in my opinion where Damon started to blend vocals which he then used for the Gorillaz...
Song 3
The third choice is "Giurls and Boys" it has a slightly more electronic feel this one but still has the classic guitars and bass you would expect. yet again it is a song that you can sing along to and it has a very simple day to day subject matter.
We love all types of music and hope that you like our choices!
Big up all the music in the world and the joy we get making and listening to it!
