Appreciation for the Place I Live- Chasing Waterfalls Edition!

in #photography3 years ago

I have been plagued by itchy feet for the past couple months...and no, it's not a fungus ha, or anything physical. It's simply a strong desire to do my gypsy thing and travel. Where? Away. To anywhere. The farther the better.

But alas hubs and I are on a mission to increase income, buy crypto, and get rid of debt. And with the rising prices of everything from fuel to electric to food; a roadtrip "just because" is not likely for a while.

I know that a huge part of my problem is winter, which likes to hang on here in NY into April, if not all the way through it. And it's not even so much the snow and cold (although that doesn't help) as it is the dreary gray, uninviting skies. So I've been going through my photos to remind myself that I truly live in a beautiful place.

Talking to @clayboyn in my last post inspired this, because the area I live is spectacular from about mid May to mid October, a place I'd be proud to show off to visitors.

And these photos show just one of the highlights of the outdoors (the lakes and wooded places we have are also awesome) we have some pretty killer indoor activities too, like wine trailing and brewery hopping.

But for me it will always be nature that makes or breaks a place.

I am one of those corny people who believes things like Life is a Gift, and Every Day is a New Day.

Also someone who believes giving thanks should not be limited to the last Thursday in November. Or limited at all.

I'm not awesome at sticking to daily routines, like writing a list every morning, but I am pretty good at reminding myself frequently to say thank you. To the universe and creation, to my family and friends.

(The photos above this line were taken at three secret spots in my area, no tourists are likely to ever stumble across them)

To project gratitude for this earthly experience, and not just for what people consider to be good, but All of it.

The pain, the suffering, the sorrow- these things are what make joy and happiness and pleasure so amazing...we need the counterpoints.

We need the balance. At the very least it gives us a greater appreciation for the things in this life that we love. That we feel makes it all worth being here.

The more I think along these lines, the more I truly understand that it's all about perspective. How we view it is a choice, a decision not a given. And I for one choose to see it all as an adventure, the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. It's all about resonating at a higher frequency

This is why I have stopped saying Have a great day, and started saying this instead:

Make it a great day Hive peeps!

Sort:

I love em. It looks like some crackers you have. To be in asking the splashiness of offer is awesome too. Although bloody cold here. I hope it's warmer there!

Nope, it is still godawful cold here, I'm trying to cheer myself up by reminiscing the better part of the year in these parts!

Yeah, in these parts even in the height of summer dipping in the falls and pools is freezing!!!

A wise man once said, "Life is a waterfall, we're one in the river and one again after the fall."

No it's definitely not just lyrics to a song I love. Ok maybe it is but still. Finding the beauty in the contrast is something that took me a very long time to do and now that I have, I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. There is no good without evil, there is no beauty without ugliness, there is no kindness without animosity. We only know these things in contrast to the other, so they go hand in hand. Much love.

I've found that those who have come to this place in life are the people I wish to surround myself with at this point in my life.

It's a necessary evolution of thought to even begin to vibrate at a higher frequency here. There's a certain kind of peace and love that emanates from such beings, and the empathy among us benefit greatly from it, a healing salve to the spirit.

So much love back atcha Clay :)

Those are some really nice waterfalls! I only know of a couple around here and one back home XD

They are pretty amazing. And that's just a few of them, I have to do some hiking this spring and summer with my camera :)
