Providence (An Original Poem)

in #poetry9 months ago

Your presence
brings such joy
to my life,

One beautiful mystery
I don't care
to explain away,

But rather bask
in each moment
that warms like the sun,
and cleanses like rain,

We must've known
one another long before
in another time and place,
some speakeasy or
juke joint dive
where lives thrived,
deliberately simple,

And were as
full and ripe
with richness
as each second
shared with you.

Make the most of this day. Thank you for reading!

I believe that we never arrive late or early in a person's life: we arrive at the right, precise moment. It was necessary to have travelled all the way to be able to reach someone. The empty hands, the thirsty heart, the leafless branches are no coincidence. My grandmother used to say that only those who have felt cold know the warmth of a hug. It is good to read you again. Greetings, my friend

I believe that too Nancy. Timing is always divine and it's just a matter of being open to it and figuring out the "why's". Your grandmother was wise! It's good to hear from you again. I hope things are better on your end. We just got the last blast of winter snow and the weather should be warming up soon!

It's good to write again, even if it's just to let off steam and escape reality for a while. Over there it's cold and over here the beach season has started. The city is full of tourists from all over. There is a sun that melts and tans. I hope you have a great day, my friend. Hugs

Writing has saved me during dark/tough phases of my life several times. Try to keep it up if you can, even if it's just journaling. Thank you my friend. Take care of yourself!

The special one in your life is one lucky soul and I'm sure she knows it, assuming you wrote this for your wife. I think it is so, so touching! Make the most of this day, indeed!

I'm very lucky too. We found each other later in life and I think we appreciate each other more because of it. Thank you, Tamara! I hope you're having a good week!

So many good thoughts and feelings attached.

Good poem! I like it.

Thank you!

Lovely poem

Thanks!

Very sweet
Unfortunately I don't know how to come up with one

I love it

Thank you!

A beautiful dive beyond the "space-time" construct where all possibilities reside while (re)connecting with the high vibrational frequency of love.

We must've known
one another long before

Remembering is very powerful ... Not everything in our DNA can be wiped out ;)

Not everything in our DNA can be wiped out ;)

Thank you Krisz! That statement is so true! This explains a lot of things like deja vu and things that we're unexplainably attracted to.

Very nice. I like the idea of having known someone in another time. It really speaks to how to people can be so interconnected. Whether it's plausible or not. I guess it all depends on what you believe!

Thanks! Yes, I think we've all met a stranger or had an experience that seemed unexplainably familiar. Fragrance is a big one too. I remember the first time I caught the scent of patchouli. I was at a festival in Columbus (ComFest) in the early 1990's and someone was wearing it and the fragrance triggered all kinds of feelings and memories. It was so strange.

That is really interesting. If I smelled it today I would probably be taken back to my days burning sandalwood and patchouli at my old house. I definitely wasn't trying to cover anything up though! :)

Haha, sure you weren't! : ). I used to use it in my car as an air freshener. If I were ever to have gotten pulled over my car would be searched for sure! Patchouli is one of those things that people either really like or really don't.

My wife is not a fan of it at all. She always points it out anytime she notices it.

My wife can tolerate it but it isn't her favorite.

You can't see the poem till you truly see it. Till it strikes a deep memory or evokes a feeling that brings smiles to your face or sadness to your eyes. Love it, Eric.🌺

Some do not believe in providence. But it certainly operates in our lives in a tenuous way and explains if you think about it the course of our lives without interfering with us choosing the path. Beautiful poem, my friend.

So true. I think we either believe in interconnectedness or not. I can't imagine how bland life is for those who don't believe. Thank you!

Only those who have gone through hard times can learn from it and live their lives happily again

Nicely written and expressive. I can feel the sentiment. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reading!

When I got to these two lines:

some speakeasy or
juke joint dive

Suddenly my internal voice was replaced by Garrison Keillor, reading it as he would. haha. Anyway, very nice poem, man. I like the images you give. I like it so much that it put some Japanese words into my mind:

春雨に
過去を洗い
今を濡らす
あなたと共に
時は輝く

In the spring rain,
Washing away the past,
Wetting the present,
With you,
Time shines.

Oh funny! Keillor is from the city I live in. The theater they recorded A Prairie Home Companion in is about two miles away. The haiku is wonderful! How hard was it to learn Japanese?

This is really a powerful poem that contains a lot of message that is attached to this and this is really great to see that this words is coming at the right time because it will definitely address some issues people are facing emotionally

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

That is one gorgeous love ode. ode to love. Not sure which.

So simple! I am always amazed when a poem of few words expresses the ineffable, like this one does.

where lives thrived,
deliberately simple,

something about those two lines resonates here, with no need to explain away the what or why

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

A good poem for lovers 🙂

The poem is very beautiful and has deep meaning

How are you friend, best wishes to you and hopefully the best will always be for you. I really miss you and in this post I say best wishes to you and your family there.

Thanks and I hope all is well with you and your family!

Very beautiful poetry. I think you are telling about the something you that love. It's true that love makes everything beautiful. Have a nice day, Eric.

Thank you, Eliana! Have a wonderful day!

A beautiful love poem. I'm always captivated by how the feeling of love can bring beautiful words.

Much appreciated!
