Three runs in the last five days as it goes, well back on track!
I did two of these VERY early, getting out of the house at 6.30, which I'm happy with, and it gives me a much more chilled after-run session before work.
And I took all of them slow, which I'm into ATM.
Friday's Run - a different route...
I didn't fancy my usual route, and it was early enough to basically run anywhere without worrying too much about having to stop at roads for traffic so I headed for a round trip of Hereford centre, extended...
I took it nice and slow and it was a bit hillier than my usual route, but my HR was reasonable at an average of 150 BPM, that's zone four comfortably for me.
I'm happy to have found another varied, not too trafficy route for 5K, as long as it's before 7.00 a.m. it'll be fine going forwards!
Sunday's long and slow run...
I took this very slow, aiming for zone four, walking more than usual, set off at 7.35 which is as early as I can manage with decent light, even that was a bit dark starting off, my usual long-ish route, first time I did this in 2025, enjoyed it!
Reviewing my HR, I totally underdid it with the pace.... I was thinking I'd be primarily in zone 4, but it turns out I was mainly in Zone 3, and didn't even hit Zone 5 at all.
That's all fair enough, I'm in the mood for taking it easy!
Tuesday's Run
This was today, up at 6.30 a.m. with my headtorch, I could see the moisture in the air in its beam, which may sound pretty, but really it was just cold that was the main experience!
I'm actually quite pleased with the pace for HR here, maybe my slower runs are just starting to pay off, I mean that is the idea after all!
That's a full one minute faster than the previous 5K and yet 3 BPM lower, actually that's such a huge difference it's probably more of a reflection of other factors, but interesting to note the variation!!!
Final thoughts...
Keep it slow!!!
And at some point I needs to get back to some pace running, but intervals!
