Weekly-ish Running Update... keeping it regular!

Well I'm pleased to say that since my last running post, which was two weeks ago, I've managed six runs, three a week, and I've kept to my Tue, Thurs and Sunday mornings routine.

I've been heading out at 6.30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays with a head torch, doing one of two routes, one rural/ cycle path, the other just around Hereford main streets really, which that early in the morning is fine because there's not much traffic.

Then on Sundays I do my proper rural route, there's a nice variety of paths and you can run up to probably 15K around that little slice of Hereford, very little traffic, no nasty boggy bits either, which can be an issue on longer routes around here.

Zone Training....

I've been focussing on going slow, which actually makes it much easier to get-up and out, psychologically... if I'm just going for a little trot, no worries, so whereas I used to do 5K in 23 minutes something, now I'll happily settle for 28 or 29.... lower heart rate, I think it's doing me some good, we'll see if I ever try going faster again!

Second to last week...

One fast run to start off, not sure what I was doing there! But then the other two slower....

Last week...

Nice and chill... although I managed the 10K faster pace than my previous week's 9K, well that is progress I guess!

Last Sunday's 10K

Here's the usual route....

The heart rate is a little artificially low as I stopped at one point to take a picture!

Happy with the charts...

I'm surprised to see so much in Zone 3, I had expected a 50-50 split between that and Zone four and at least 5% in Zone five....

Final thoughts...

I think I am getting fitter with all of this Zone training, I might hit the track tomorrow morning.

Will have to see how I feel!

Gret, keep up the good work.

That’s fantastic. Hats off to you!

Yes I'm happy enough with that!

Keep on the good work
Average of 5k to 10k running is amazing

After a decent block of low heart training it will be interesting what your harder/ faster threshold run looks like on the time in zones chart. Do you have an idea of your max heart rate?

Do you have specific aims with your running? If you wanted to do well in races or parkrun then I expect you would be working on speed, but for general fitness that may not be so vital. In my case I would like to improve my parkrun times, but for now I am just building slowly after some issues. I may well get back to some intervals and pace runs soon.

Enjoy the lighter mornings.

I've got no real goals ATM, I'm just enjoying getting out three times a week, just general fitness and a good start to the morning really.
