Currently, the weather is still quite cold, so the snow continues to stick around. Unfortunately, it has turned to ice, making it tricky underfoot. Nevertheless, we've had a couple of days of sun, so I walked down to the village ponds to feed the birds.
This is my entry to the Show Me A Photo Contest #SMaP - Round 200 - Theme: White. Thank you to @nelinoeva and the team for the contest.
One of the cygnets, a young swan, was ice skating on the surface of the pond. We have two young swans on the pond. They can fly but they are still learning. Unfortunately, one of them recently became trapped in the cricket net around the village cricket pitch. Fortunately, a local animal rescue group and a couple of villagers were able to intervene. They safely rescued the cygnet, treated its wounds, and eventually returned it to the pond after a couple of days at the centre.
Returning to my flat, the usual black eyed gulls were perching on my television aerial on the roof. Heat rises, so I'm sure they are up there keeping warm!
