I am a video creator. On my TikTok and Instagram/Facebook, I post my train videos.

When certain reels blow up, I get a string of haters complaining about how boring the video is like I made them watch and (it seems) they are blaming me for posting solely to bore them.

First and foremost. The algorithm won't see your comment about how boring the content is, it just sees your engagement and thinks you want more of that content. Browsing social media is like browsing a catalog back in the day when you had to shop from a catalog before online shopping was popular.

Harassing the creator simply because the content wasn't engaging to YOU makes no sense.

Dbuzz has been down for almost a week so I will have to share my TikTok content and my video catch-up threads like this. I'm hoping the site will be fixed soon.

▶️ I made a TikTok video talking about this.

This video was after the troll string.

Say you like car repair tutorials. Something you can do yourself like changing a tire or jumping a dead battery.

You commented on how the video helped you. The platform will take notice and show you car tech videos from a different creator. You like Tom's video because it's easy to understand. Joe's video tells you what you need.

Now the AI may show you content similar to cars. They might show you edits. You might see a creator post an edit of their friend's car.
Edits might not be up your alley. You complain to the creator about how they wasted your time when no one made you watch the video. The AI will see your engagement and think you like the car edits.

It's disingenuous to curate content you are not interested in and then blame the creator because the AI thought you liked that type of content.

My content is not garbage simply because you don't like it or you have smoke for me.

It's fine if someone's content isn't up your alley. What is not OK is verbally harassing them when you could have just scrolled if you didn't enjoy the video like you thought you would.

It's not my fault you curate your feed with content that doesn't interest you.

Spend time curating content you want to watch, read, etc. It's that simple
