My Naija people!! How una dey!
I cherish dressing a lot. Because I see it as a way of presenting oneself to the public. In the end, it's said that “the way we dress is the way we are addressed”. This is nothing but pure fact.
When you see a lawyer in his black suit and wig, you should know that this is the law. And when you see an army in their uniform, you should respect the armed forces. These are the reasons why we have dresses. A mechanic's way of dressing would surely be different from that of a banker.
Their place of work would surely give them a reason to dress in some manner. You can’t expect to see a mechanic at work put on a blue shirt and black trousers well-ironed with black shoes. No! They need to put on safety wear that would aid their workmanship.
As for me, the nature of my job has its dress sense, but I also have my dress sense. I am the type that loves to put on something smart with quality. I don't care about having hundreds of clothes piled in my wardrobe. I am not after that. But I am after just a few that are worth it.
I remember sometime when I was in school, I had to change my wardrobe in my penultimate year. As students, we don't have much money at hand. But that doesn’t mean it should reflect on my life, we still try as much to look good in classes for lectures.
When I decided to change my wardrobe, I bought only one pair of jeans and two round-neck tops. I don't fancy long-sleeved shirts. But I got more senator wear. I love them so much. especially when tailored to fit and smart. I will have it well-ironed and rock it with pride.
I got five different senator wears, jeans and tops, then I also bought a Jalab. These are the clothes I wore till the end of my final year. The fun fact was that every time my friends saw me appear in front of them, they would always take another glance at the senator's wear and my dress sense times without number.
I can't say how many times I have been stopped by the roadside while walking just for people to see and some will seek permission to take a capture of the fashion style.
But since I have started a career in farming, the nature of my work doesn’t allow me to wear all of these fashionable clothes to farm. So I had to buy more shorts and light round neckwear, most times with a face cap because of the sun.
I find myself getting in and out of the pond almost all day, what's my essence wearing fashionable dresses to dip them inside the pool of water, so I just wear something stress-free to work. There are times when I know I might be heading out somewhere before or after work, then I am having my senator wear as usual.
If I am to have my wardrobe filled with clothes just get me more of those clothes in different patterns and styles. But as for shoes? I’ve not been a shoe type since my childhood days. I don't know why I just don't like putting on shoes. Should I say it's laziness to buckle and unbuckle the ropes or that I haven’t gotten a perfect shoe choice yet? I just can’t say.
I prefer to have my feet free on palm slippers. So I think they go well with the senator's clothes. If it were to be suits and trousers now then I’m sure I have no choice but to put on shoes.
I love to rock sneakers too. Yeah on my jeans and top. I am perfectly fine with that. But I am not a fan of sunshades, eyeglasses, and wristwatches. But I use them once in a blue moon. This is typically my wardrobe. And I hope you had a nice tour with me.
