Over here in Ghana, Adomi bridge which is our own London bridge is even famous than the President. That’s not a joke though. Ever since we were kids, we’ve always dreamed of being on that bridge. In fact, if you ever organize an excursion in Ghana to the Eastern region, and you want a lot of people to partake, the icing on the cake should be the bridge( thank me later). There are other places in Eastern Region, from the monkey’ sanctuary to Akosombo dam but the bridge is always on top.

It’s a huge structure on top of lake Volta which connects Atimpoku to its neighboring communities. It is located at Adomi in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The bridge is just a normal white structure made of metal, you know, nothing special. What makes it special is how it looks at night. Some days ago, my sister asked us to dress up for a surprise. After about 10 minutes drive, we saw a really pretty structure and there I kept on asking if it was the same bridge I saw during the day. It looked so beautiful.

It’s safe to say it’s the coolest thing I’ve seen this month. This makes me feel bad for those who have been visiting the bridge during the day because they miss out on a whole lot. The bridge changes colours at night and the transition is a beautiful one. Even though we went there really late, we met people on the bridge. I wasn’t surprised though. It really is a beautiful place to hangout except that it’s still a busy bridge even at night. We had to wait till most people left before getting pictures of just the bridge.

The one thing I like is how there’s a high level of security on the bridge, from morning till evening. There are always security personnel patrolling on the bridge and then there’s a whole security check point you have to pass through before getting on the bridge. I mean it only sounds right that they actually put that check point there because the crossing the bridge means entering to another community which eventually leads to another region(Volta) and this is a normal thing in Ghana. There’s always a security checkpoint anytime you’re moving from region to another.

The breeze is so refreshing because of the lake. I’m not surprised most musicians and content creators go there for their music video and contents. I mean if you were to go there at night, you might end up filling your gallery with pictures of the bridge. I know I’m not the first person to fall in love with the bridge at night. Even those who stay around come there at night to hangout. That shows you can’t really get over the bridge no matter how many times you go there.

I’m definitely going to visit again another night. It’s really a beautiful sight to behold. If you’re like me who derives joy in the little things, then this bridge will make you so happy. It brought out my inner child as I kept on moving from one place to the other.

Anyway, if you ever come to the Eastern Region of Ghana, don’t miss the sight of Adomi bridge at night. It’s one of the beautiful things that could make your night.
