Hello everyone, so I am here again with another gift for another friend. Even though he’s mostly busy, he makes time to feed my curiosity. I decided to make this crossbody bag for him. It was so exhausting to make this but remembering who I was making it for kept me going.
I made it in brown because I figured men like dark colors.
It took me about 10 hours to make everything and I love how much I learned from making this. I didn’t even know how to attach zipper but now I do.
The materials I used:
• Yarns
• 1.60mm hook
• Bag handle attachments
I started by making the granny squares. I made the granny squares in the same sizes. Once again, I underestimated how long it will take me to make these squares. I had to keep unraveling the ones I had already done because I didn’t like the color coordination. Eventually, I was able to get the desired color combination I wanted. Just like any other granny square I made a chain of four and then I slip stitched in the first chain. I then make four sets of three double crochets in the space with the chains in between the three sets each. Don’t be confused. It simply means you make three double crochets and two chains four times in the same space.
I kept on building on this by making two sets of three double crochets in the corners of the squares and that’s how I made the squares. You build it till you reach the size that you want.
So after reaching the size I wanted, I now assembled them and attached them. Don’t underestimate this part too, it wasn’t so easy. After attaching them, it didn’t make sense so I had to make it make sense. I started by making two rows of granny pattern and one row of single crochet on top of it. I then went ahead to crochet the hand. That was very simple. I made rows of double crochets until I reached my desired length.
I now attached the bag handle attachments. I used a slip stitch to do that.
I then moved on to attach the zipper. It was so funny because my mom, an experienced seamstress watched me do the wrong thing and laughed at me when I was undoing it because I didn’t ask her for help….haha it was frustrating but funny too.I managed to unravel to and do it well.
I then added a small AirPod case just to make it cute and add the aesthetics to it. Most importantly, I just wanted him to be able to keep his AirPod separately from the other things so he wouldn’t have to be searching for it all the time.
The result
Was it fun doing this? Yes it was. I absolutely loved each and every part of it. I’m happy I’ve been able to make this because it has been on my mind for a long time. Thank you all for your time and I hope you like it too.
