Friends, you are once again welcome to my Creative Sunday blog. In the last few weeks that I have made many blogs here, you have been getting to see some funny memes. But I thought that this time I should do something different and try something creative.
This time I thought of making something useful from waste material. When I woke up in the morning, I was roaming on the terrace and I saw that my scooter's tyre was lying there which I had replaced because there were many punctures in the tyre and due to those punctures, air was leaking, so I replaced the tyre because there was a risk of air leaking.
Then I thought of making a seat from this tyre because the stall where we were sitting in the balcony was broken and I found it more comfortable to sit in the store. I thought of making something similar from it which would be a little comfortable to sit on.
First of all I washed the tyre and cleaned it thoroughly so that any dirt stuck in it would come out and the dust would not stick to us while sitting.
Now I put the tyre outside to dry in the sun and I started collecting my tools. First of all I took out the drill machine to make holes and I also took out a drill bit which can make holes in rubber. I had this drill bit for doing small household works and it is used a lot.
After this I took out a hammer, small chisel and screwdriver. When we make a hole in the rubber, some amount of rubber gets stuck in the hole and the hole does not get cleaned properly, so for this I took out these tools and I also took out safety gloves which will protect my hands and save me from small cuts.
After this I went to the shop and brought a rope but only one rope was available there and today was Sunday so no other shop was open and this rope was also very short. I was doubting whether it will be able to fit in this seat completely or not and I was afraid of the thing here.
In a short while the tyre was thoroughly cleaned and had dried in the sun and I could feel a lot of difference as it was much cleaner now.
Then I thought that the holes that I would make in this tyre should come in a proper gapping, so I searched for a white marker or chalk at home but could not find it, then it came to my mind that I would drill near the thread marks of the tyre, leaving one near the other so that there are holes in equal gapping. The mark that I have made with my hand in the picture below is its gapping and I would make one hole at the place of the first finger and the second hole at the place of the second finger. I had 42 threads in it and I would have to make approximately 21 holes.
I started drilling a hole in the tyre with the help of a drill machine and it was taking around 4 to 5 seconds to make the hole and while drilling the hole smoke was coming out and the smell of this smoke was very strange.
After a while I had punched about 12 holes. Initially, when I was punching holes while standing, it was taking more time. Then, I sat down and punched holes by pressing the tyre a little. This was taking less time and also required less force.
Now almost all the holes in the tyre were made and I kept the drill machine aside and went away and took a deep breath because till the time I was making holes with the drill machine, there was a strange sound coming from it which seemed toxic.
Then I remembered that I might need to make holes on the other side of the tyre as well to provide support for the rope as it moves, so I made four more holes in all four directions behind the tyre.
Now, there were holes in the tyre on both the sides and this was the result as you can see that holes have been made with proper gapping, it is just that at one place you will see more gap and that is because a few holes had to be made and at one place the thread would have been left.
Now it was time to clean these holes properly and take out the rubber, so first of all I used a thin chisel and then I also used a thick driver so that the hole was completely clear. Because if the hole was not clear then there would be a problem in inserting the rope in it.
I cleaned almost all the holes here with the help of a chisel and screwdriver, but I made a mistake here, I did not take into account the thickness of the rope in the beginning and I regretted this mistake a lot because the rope was a little thick and was not able to go inside the hole properly. I also took the help of a thin chisel but even with its help the rope did not go inside.
Now here I was not able to understand what to do because the thickest drill bit I had was only this much. Now if I had to put the rope then I would have to bring a thicker drill bit. Then I brought a new drill bit which I got from a nearby hardware shop. This drill bit was twice as thick as that drill bit and the holes were already made so it did not take much time to make the holes.
You can see in the picture below how much larger the area of the holes currently drilled with the new drill bit is compared to the previous drill bit.
Within about 5 minutes I had enlarged all the holes and cleaned them properly and you can see that this is the result after drilling the holes with a thick drill bit
Now it was the turn to insert the rope, which I initially inserted with my hand but when I inserted it in the hole initially, the rope was not going down and there was some difficulty in pulling the rope, so with the help of the driver, I inserted the rope a little down and then from there that small piece came into my hand.
After this, I very easily passed the rope through the holes in the tyre in a proper manner. There were still some holes left and after that what I was afraid of happened. The rope was almost over and then I tied the rope from the other side to its opposite side without moving it too much.
Now, I had to move the rope to the back. The four holes that I had made for this could not be used because the length of the rope was too short. So, I found a hole that was closest to me to insert the cut piece of rope in which I could tie a knot in the rope after inserting it. But that hole was also quite far away. I again drilled another hole a little closer to it with the help of a drill machine.
Then I took both the ends of the rope out of the hole, which took a lot of effort because they were a little thick and the hole was small, and it was a little difficult to take the hand out of the middle of the tyre because there was a very small gap and the hand was not able to reach easily. Then I held both the ends of the rope tightly and tied a knot using a lot of force.
This is the final result which was not what I had expected. Because I felt that there was a little lack of rope in it, which was spoiling its look a bit. If there was a little more rope in it, it would have looked quite full and its look would have been a little different.
Now there was another problem that when I sat in it and looked at it, I noticed that its height was also a little short. Then I remembered that I had another damaged tyre lying with me because it belonged to the front part of this scooter. I took that tyre out of the store room and cleaned it properly and then kept it in the sun for some time so that it could dry properly.
Now I had placed these two tyres one above the other so that their height became equal to a stall and it was also very comfortable to sit on. The plastic of the school starts to crack after sitting on it for a long time but nothing like this was happening in this because sitting on the rubber was a bit comfortable. I used the phone while sitting on it for a long time and this entire post was also made by sitting on it, I found it very comfortable.
