Snow in Ireland
We've had an exceptionally mild autumn this year. The summer started off ok with the odd bit of warm weather, but then mainly we were getting rain, rain and more rain.
Once the kids went back to school in late August though, things took a turn for the better and it's been pretty dry and unseasonably warm since then.
So warm in fact that my golf course was having qualifying competitions up until last week, which is unheard of. These tend to end in mid October usually.
Anyway the weather took a turn a couple of days ago, with temperatures dropping down to zero and last night we got a good covering of snow.
Here is picture from out on the farm in Conamara taken earlier today.
There was great excitement when the text landed in around 7:30am this morning saying that school would remain closed!
Once they woke up and looked out the window they were praying that this is what would happen!
There was a nice bit of snow as can be seen from the view from my home office window.
As you can see the skylight window left a cool little sculpture. Thanks nature!
I got snap happy quickly before it fell back in the window making a mess.
Pretty cool, though eh...
as you can see from the roof of my house, there was a decent fall of snow.
and here's a look at the garden and field next door.
I know for some of you in other parts of the world that this is laughable levels of snow, but we don't tend to get much in Ireland, so when we get it, there tends to be great excitement like sledding down the nearest hill.
Right, I'm off to build a snowman with the kids. I'll let ye know how we get on with a post tomorrow or soon after.
