Recently, i had discovered a new interest for painting, Oil painting.
I never anticipated myself to paint on a canvas, being caught up with digital art and day to day chores i assumed it would be too lengthy and unconventional. Until i decided to try it out after watching a few Bob Ross videos on youtube...
The way he painted made everything look so easy and creative, it got me thinking if it was as easy as he displayed it to be. Along with that it looked extremely fun and relaxing, so i decided to give it a shot.
I purchased an A3 (11.69 x 16.53 inches)(approximate) canvas and a few cheap oil paints with a variety of brushes. I had spotted this painting on Bob's channel itself and took inspiration from it Link in description.
Before starting the painting itself, i had to get in the mind of Bob Ross and how he painted so flawlesssly, turning his colors on the palette to descriptive sceneries and using the empty canvas as a medium to express his imaginations. I knew i could paint. I started off by following his instructions for a while until i branched off his video and my imagination controlled my head and hand instead, I couldnt stop myself. My hands and face were covered with paint but that didnt bother me as i continued to stare into my canvas and pour different colors on the palette, all i saw was the scenery that was stapled in my head. All from expressive brush strokes to a variety of eye-catching colors i managed to capture a beach sunset I could have only dreamt off.
I stared at the painting for a while made a few changes with it until i was satisfied, and perhaps proud. Although i didnt have the same quality or paints as Bob, i thought i did the best i could and it really shows how creativity can flourish an empty white board with so less.
Everyone can be creative, its a part of you. So why hesitate?
