Creo que todos tenemos algún ancestro migrante. Desde que la humanidad inició su camino en este mundo en el continente africano, el ser humano se ha caracterizado por moverse de un punto a otro constantemente. Es parte de nuestra esencia de alguna manera, así que vamos a abordar esta iniciativa muy especial la cual ha tenido bastante recepción ya que también es un tema muy presente para nosotros.

Aunque soy migrante desde un tiempo muy reciente, he visto como desde hace 10 años para acá diversas personas que conozco o conocía han ido a probar suerte en otros países. También viví la migración interna dentro de mi propio paìs, cuando me fui a Caracas a estudiar en la universidad. Sin embargo, no fue por necesidad sino por estudios, en un contexto muy diferente. En lo personal, migrar internamente dentro del país debido a la crisis nunca fue una opción muy viable o deseable para mi que digamos. Actualmente me encuentro en España, y soy otro venezolano más por el mundo.
La migración venezolana hace varios años la viví desde un punto de vista diferente al actual. Veía como compañeros de la universidad y algunos otros conocidos se iban a otros países, y aunque me pareció lamentable, no lo veía en aquel entonces como una opción para mi. Quería terminar mis estudios universitarios, y quizás después pensar en ello. No era sólo eso sino que económicamente no podía hacerlo, aunque de todas maneras tampoco estaba en mis deseos (a pesar del caos que vivió el país en esos años).
Quizás mi destino era experimentar en carne propia los años más duros de la crisis dentro de Venezuela, para luego ir a otro país con una madurez diferente, no lo sé. Lo cierto es que, ya graduado de ingeniero, sin muchas opciones para trabajar de eso y casi nulas opciones en general, no había mucho que hacer para mi quedándome. La misma que muchos jóvenes, y quizás con la suerte de poder llegar a un país bastante desarrollado en avión y no a través de caminos inciertos como lamentablemente muchos otros han tenido que hacer, ya por necesidades mucho más extremas.
Durante miles de años, el ser humano migró por el mundo. Nunca olvidaré la historia que ví en la serie Cosmos de Natgeo en donde una tribu del sudeste asiático logró llegar a islas remotas del océano pacífico en balsas muy simples, o hasta sin saber que esas islas existían. Quizás la misma historia que el ser humano intenta emular actualmente al tratar de llegar a algún otro planeta habitable. Sin embargo, muchas veces el camino está lleno de sufrimiento, incluso en un mundo moderno en donde se supone que todo debería ser más organizado y al servicio del ser humano, no en su propia contra.
Podría sonar caótico, pero la naturaleza del ser humano y de casi cualquier animal es irse hacia donde hayan mejores condiciones. Sería casi impensable pensar en un mundo con fronteras abiertas, tampoco es lo ideal, pero si algo es cierto para mi es que si las leyes migratorias de los países del mundo no se adaptan a la naturaleza humana, seguirán habiendo situaciones lamentables como las que hemos visto.
Todo ser humano tiene derecho a emigrar, salir de su país, pero también es cierto que cada país tiene derecho a aceptar la entrada o no. Tienes derecho a salir, pero no a entrar, ya eso sería algo que el país donde llegas decide. En términos legales sería lo justo, pero quizás le falte un poco de humanismo a esta lógica. El país o el Estado no representa enteramente la decisión de todos los habitantes. Quizás en un futuro surjan leyes que encuentren el equilibrio justo entre preservar su integridad/identidad/nación y dar oportunidad a personas que vienen de afuera con necesidades y que están dispuestas a trabajar, portarse bien y adaptarse.
Sabemos que hay países o sociedades en el mundo que tienen una perspectiva más abierta o cerrada acerca de permitir la entrada de personas extranjeras. Creo que depende mucho de la cultura y de ciertos factores, pero lo cierto es que muchos estos problemas surgen de una visión desde el ego o separación. También hay que entender que es algo menos simple de lo que parece. Pueden haber buenas o malas razones para ser más abierto o no. Siempre que haya en la sociedad un desequilibrio, surge un opuesto.
Si un país de pronto permite la entrada de muchas personas, entonces puede surgir en la población local un fuerte sentimiento conservador. Pero ninguno de los bandos o extremos es la solución. Siempre que se trasciendan las polaridades y se busque una solución humana, todos salen ganando. Hay que tener en cuenta que no solamente puede existir la xenofobia, sino que el mismo migrante puede ser irrespetuoso o no busque adaptarse a la sociedad a donde llega. Se puede ser muy bueno resaltando nuestros aspectos positivos, pero es más difícil entender qué cosas podríamos estar haciendo que no son adecuadas según la perspectiva de otros.
Mucho se habla de lo bien que Venezuela recibió a una buena cantidad de migrantes en tiempos pasados, y el trato cálido que se les dió. Sin embargo, la cuestión es que otros países no están obligados a hacer lo mismo. Y a pesar de esto, puedes llegar a escuchar muchos casos de personas no venezolanas que tienen alguna buena experiencia en Venezuela, o haber conocido a algún venezolano "de bien" (como solemos decir), y con ello ser muy respetuoso y dispuesto a ayudar otros venezolanos. Hay muchos casos de venezolanos que han sido bien recibidos en otros países, pero quizás son un poco más los que no tanto.
Como tal, Venezuela no tiene una historia de migración muy arraigada en su cultura. Es algo muy reciente. Estamos acostumbrados a recibir a otros, pero nos faltaría empezar a experimentar ser nosotros los que somos recibidos. Y no digo que no sepamos hacerlo, quizás hayan muchas cosas que el mundo necesita aprender de nosotros, y el fin de esta migración es llevar nuestra cultura al mundo, en sus aspectos positivos, pero hay cosas que también nos tocará aprender, así como todas las sociedades del mundo han aprendido algo con cada crisis que surge.
El mundo está interconectado, y el ser humano cada día se conoce más a sí mismo en sus diferentes culturas. Para alguien que vivió hace miles de años, era inimaginable saber o conocer culturas del otro lado del planeta. Quizás la migración ha hecho al ser humano conocer más de cerca otras culturas, y de allí han surgido sociedades que han crecido mucho culturalmente.

Although I am a migrant for a very recent time, I have seen how since 10 years ago several people I know or knew have gone to try their luck in other countries. I also experienced internal migration within my own country, when I went to Caracas to study at the university. However, it was not for necessity but for studies, in a very different context. Personally, migrating internally within the country due to the crisis was never a very viable or desirable option for me. I am currently in Spain, and I am just another Venezuelan around the world.
Several years ago I lived the Venezuelan migration from a different point of view than the current one. I saw how university classmates and some other people I knew were leaving for other countries, and although I found it unfortunate, I did not see it as an option for me at that time. I wanted to finish my university studies, and maybe later think about it. It was not only that, but financially I could not do it, although it was not in my desires anyway (despite the chaos the country went through in those years).
Perhaps my destiny was to experience first hand the hardest years of the crisis in Venezuela, and then go to another country with a different maturity, I don't know. What is certain is that already graduated as an engineer, and without many options to work in that field and almost no options in general, there was not much for me to do by staying. The same as many young people, and perhaps with the luck of being able to reach a fairly developed country by plane and not through uncertain roads as unfortunately many others have had to do, already for much more extreme needs.
For thousands of years, human beings migrated around the world. I will never forget the story I saw in the Natgeo Cosmos series where a Southeast Asian tribe managed to reach remote islands in the Pacific Ocean on very simple rafts, or even without knowing that these islands existed. Perhaps the same story that humans are currently trying to emulate when trying to reach some other habitable planet. However, many times the road is full of suffering, even in a modern world where everything is supposed to be more organized and at the service of human beings, not against them.
It might sound chaotic, but the nature of the human being and of almost any animal is to go where there are better conditions. It would be almost unthinkable to think of a world with open borders, it is not ideal either, but if something is certain for me is that if the immigration laws of the countries of the world are not adapted to human nature, there will continue to be unfortunate situations like the ones we have seen.
Every human being has the right to emigrate, to leave his country, but it is also true that each country has the right to accept entry or not. You have the right to leave, but not to enter, since that would be something that the country where you arrive decides. In legal terms, it would be fair, but perhaps this logic lacks a bit of humanism. The country or the State does not entirely represent the decision of all the inhabitants. Perhaps in the future laws will emerge that find the right balance between preserving their integrity/identity/nation and giving opportunity to people who come from outside with needs and who are willing to work, behave well, and adapt.
We know that there are countries or societies in the world that have a more open or closed perspective about allowing foreign people in. I think it depends a lot on the culture and certain factors, but the truth is that many of these problems arise from a vision of ego or separation. You also have to understand that it is less simple than it seems. There can be good or bad reasons to be more open or not. Whenever there is an imbalance in society, an opposite arises.
If a country suddenly allows many people to enter, then a strong conservative sentiment may arise in the local population. But neither side nor extreme is the solution. As long as polarities are transcended and a humane solution is sought, everyone wins. It must be taken into account that not only xenophobia may exist, but that the migrant himself may be disrespectful or not seek to adapt to the society where he arrives. We can be very good at highlighting our positive aspects, but it is more difficult to understand what things we might be doing that are not appropriate from the perspective of others.
Much is said about how well Venezuela received a good number of migrants in the past, and how warmly they were treated. However, the point is that other countries are not forced to do the same. And in spite of this, you may hear many cases of non-Venezuelans who have some good experience in Venezuela or have met some "good" Venezuelan people, and thus be very respectful and willing to help other Venezuelans. There are many cases of Venezuelans who have been well received in other countries, but perhaps there are a few more who have not.
As such, Venezuela does not have a history of migration deeply rooted in its culture. It is something very recent. We are used to receiving others, but we need to begin to experience being the ones who are received. And I am not saying that we do not know how to do it, perhaps there are many things that the world needs to learn from us, and the purpose of this migration is to take our culture to the world, in its positive aspects, but there are things that we will also have to learn, just as all the societies of the world have learned something with every crisis that arises.
The world is interconnected, and every day human beings learn more about themselves in their different cultures. For someone who lived thousands of years ago, it was unimaginable to know or learn about cultures on the other side of the planet. Perhaps migration has made the human being know more closely other cultures, and from there have emerged societies that have grown a lot culturally.
