Hello threeshorts community. There is something that I discovered and I felt like shearing it with the house.
I'm a student teacher and was sent for my teaching practice to one of the government schools in my city. I was so happy when I was asked to take the SS 2 class thinking that they have gone very far and I will not have much work to do. But guys I was very wrong.
Guess what I discovered? It sounds so funny though, but I also see it as an avenue to impact knowledge to this students. More than half of the students in the senior classes preparing for WEAC next year don't actually know how to read and write. For me as their new English language teacher I find it difficult to pass the required knowledge to them because they can't read and write. I had to look for a way to help the students.
I came up with a new plan that will help them succeed as students. I decided that they will only have five minutes break, rush back to class and use the remaining 25 minutes to learn how to read and write.
Thanks to God because we started today and the students were so happy for the extra lessons. Guys I had to take them back to write out the English Alphabet. Bringing out the vowel and the consonants. They also started learning how to mix the vowels and consonants sounds to produce - two words, three words etc.
Ahh we really need to pray for our government school in Nigeria. The children are not been helped at all.
