There are diverse stages and phases in life. As we grow day by day we tend to learn more daily. Recently I encountered diverse phases of life where people I least expected to show me kindness were the ones who showed me kindness and also people who I expected to be of help to me ended up treating me badly. Situations like this have taught me never to depend on people so that I won't get hurt in the process.
I remember some years back when I was doing Postgraduate studies. I was working and also studying at the same time. I was teaching in a private school at the time, and it was not easy combining work with studies but I had to because I needed money to fund my Master's project. It was really a stressful one but yet I never relent. While doing my postgraduate studies I met one of the laboratory technologists who has always been nice to me. He was so nice and promised to assist me during my project work. When it was time for me to start my research work, he promised to assist me by guiding me on the research work. I was so happy because I thought this would make my project work faster unknown to me that he had a negative agenda in mind.
When it was time to commence my research work, I reached out to him. Then he told me he sells laboratory wares and that he could get them for me at a cheaper price. I was so happy so I innocently gave him the money.
After a week, I called him to ask for the laboratory wares, and he told me that he would deliver those laboratory wares the coming week, After two weeks, I called him but he never picked up my call and that's when I knew he had just scammed me. Anytime I go to the laboratory he always hides from me when I noticed that he was hiding, I reported him and later discovered that he was not selling laboratory wares he was only using those tactics to scam people. I really felt bad because I knew how hard I worked to get the money. I cried and cried because I don't know how I would raise such an amount of money within the shortest period of time.
After the incident, I reached out to a friend who encouraged me and advised me to go to the Institute of Malaria Research since my project work is related to malaria parasite. At first, I felt reluctant but I later went since I didn't have any other alternative. On getting there, I met with a Professor who was interested in the Project topic and that's how the breakthrough started, he assisted me financially and also assisted me in my research work. I never thought he could treat me nicely, this was someone I didn't know before. I'm so happy everything went well at the end and my research project was part of the best research project graded at the department.
As for the man who scammed me, I deleted his contact and that was the last time I had a conversation with him.
