Having a good infrastructure and social amenities makes life easy for everyone. But in recent times, government seems to pay less attention to the needs of the people. A lot of masses suffer as a result of poor infrastructure and social amenities. Getting to those rural areas, most times I wonder how does villagers survive in such a poor environment with poor social amenities.
A few years ago, I traveled down to the village to visit my grandparents. I really felt for them because there were no social amenities. There main source of clean water is from the streams and rivers, they travelled long distance to neighbouring town for medical treatment and attention which is disheartening. I wonder how they cope with life in such places. It's just as if the government exempt the villager and choose not to construct basic infrastructure and social amenities in those areas. Yet the government kept collecting taxes from the masses and nothing was done to make life easy for the citizens.
How about us who live in urban areas, we also face challenges with respect to poor infrastructure. One of the challenges being faced in my area is poor electricity. Hardly do we have close to two hours of electricity supply in a day and even if we have close to five hours some days, believe me, we will end up suffering for it, it's an indication that we won't have electricity for the next 5 days. That's how bad the state of electricity in my neighborhood is.
We've made complaints yet nothing was done.Yet they kept on bringing exorbitant electricity bills monthly. It's really disheartening when you visit other places and they have consistent electricity supply only for you to get back to your neighborhood and discover that the state of electricity in your neighborhood is different.

Most businesses that need a stable electricity supply to run their businesses have relocated from the neighborhood while does that couldn't avoid the cost of relocation end up folding up due to inconsistent electricity supply.
I know many of you will ask how I cope in such a neighborhood? .. Anyway I have no choice but to create a coping mechanism for myself since I can't avoid the cost of relocating out of the neighborhood for now. Due to the poor electricity supply, I cook most time using my gas cooker, since we know the cost of gas is currently high, I have decided to cook food that won't take much time and won't consume much gas. Food like beans has been ruled out from my timetable due to the high cost of gas. Most times I charge my phones and other gadget whenever my neighbor switches on his generator.
It's been long i ironed my cloth, so most times i ensure i fold them or hang them inother to prevent them from being rumple
I plan on saving up to install solar panels soon just like what @vickoly did. I believes this will help in substituting the poor and inconsistent electricity supply.
