During Christmas and the New Year, a lot of people celebrate this season with elaborate meals that include both English and traditional dishes. I am from Nigeria, a tribe called Yoruba. Our decadent meal is pounded yam and egusi soup.

This is a very rich meal, and for average people, it is always prepared during this period. It is often said that this is a king meal, so having the opportunity to have a taste of it is always a great privilege. I will share the recipe and procedures in making it I don't have an image of me preparing it, but I will share a source image

STEP 2
Cook the yam for fifteen to twenty minutes. Check if the yam is soft for pounding by checking with your fork. Select a few and put them inside the mortar, and then pound them with a pestle till they get smooth without lumps, which can easily mold into a ball.
