In primary school I was never into books until my father bought me the famous Hindi comics - CHACHA CHOUDHARY,
PINKI, and
BILLOO
My most favorite were Chacha Choudhary and Pinki. Chacha means uncle and Choudhary is the surname. It is said about him that his brain runs faster than computer. He also has a giant companion Sabu. The duo is known to solve difficult challenges together. Their adventures were fun to read; I couldn't resist finishing them asap.
In other comics, Pinki and Billoo are mischievous kids. Those smart kids never failed to make me laugh.
I remember reading them hiding under my school textbooks : )
Their writer is Pran Kumar Sharma.
They are all published by diamond comics.
I had around 30 of them which are now sold.
Between the age of 10 to 13 I voraciously read 3 other books from our school library.1. GERONIMO STILTON
I was so mad for these books that I once wrote a fan poem kind of thing -
....
Geronimo Stilton of the New Mouse City you challenged our reading capacity
We met you in our school library
and now you will always be in our memory.
Hey cheese lover we know that you hate adventures
You are seasick, carsick, airsick and what not
you love your girlfriend PETUNIA PRETTY PAWS
but always fail to impress her
BENJAMIN, your favourite nephew
TRAP, your annoying cousin
Never failed to save us from a boring lecture
Dear publisher of The Rodent's Gazette (i.e.Gernimo)
thank you for entertaining us
I hope that the coming generations don't remain untouched by your magical books.

2. GOOSEBUMPS
The first time I found out that books without pictures can be good too is when I read the books by R.l. Stine. These too were an important part of my childhood. They may not be the most scary books, but at that time it was the only eerie and creepy content I consumed.
Once I was at a point in the story where I was scared to even turn the page :)
They leave the readers (children) satisfied as they always end on a happy note.
3. STORIES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES
These were the stories which hooked me till the end. The language was such that I had to sit with a dictionary . At each and every point I was left amazed by Sherlock's brain and skills.
