"Beyond Eyes" is an adventure game about guiding a blind girl through the city to meet up with her friend. The game is short and beautiful. It has a unique visual style and simple, hopeful story.
The story follows Rae, a young girl who loved playing with friends before having an accident that led her to go blind. After that she mostly spent her time alone in her home's frontyard. Eventually, she became a friend with a Cat, and spent the seasons playing with him. One day he went away. Rae gathered her courage to go outside and find him, even though she couldn't see anymore.
As Rae explores the space around her. Things around her are revealed as she understands where she is. Similar to a Walking Simulator, Beyond Eyes doesn't have a lot of interactivity. The main action you'll do throught is walking. Rae's pace is very slow, and due to her blindness, the viewpoint around her isn't wide. There's a feeling of achievement when you reveal most of the map. At least, I think so.
Due to the limited view of the world, I spend a lot of time exploring every corner in this game. As you see in this video, I could've finished the whole level in less than 5 minutes but I spent 30+ mins on it. The game has a beautiful aesthetics so I don't mind the slow pace, but I think many players will find Beyond Eyes boring.
I remember getting this game in a Humble Bundle, and was drawn by its premise. Glad I got and downloaded this game.
