Monomad: Fiddler Crab

in #hive-1421596 days ago

These photos were taken this morning while we were walking along the edge of the Meuraxa estuary. That was an unplanned walk, since the rather hot weather. But I was bored, I finally decided to accept my friend's invitation to go there.

I found nothing special there. There were only fishing boats going back and forth, as well as broken boats stranded on the edge of the estuary.

Several egrets were visible from a distance; they were walking swayingly along the delta that jutted out into the sea. They must have been hunting for small fish around them. It was too far to be captured by my camera.

Suddenly my eyes were drawn to the muddy sand in front of me. That was something more fun to see than the egrets across there. There were hundreds of fiddler crabs busy moving sand balls from their holes. What painstaking workers, I thought to myself.

This one suddenly stopped when I approached it. It has a big claw on its left and a small claw on its right. "Oh my little buddy, don't you dare hurt me with that big claw!"

What beautiful photographs, I have not been lucky enough to see any in person, but seeing them in photographs never ceases to amaze. Excellent photos!

Thanks :)
