The tide was high that afternoon, and the water overflowed to a quarter of the path we were passing. Well, lately, we have been spending a lot of afternoons walking in the mangroves. Then we stopped when we noticed mudskippers playing on the edge. Some were crawling with their fins; some were sunbathing. It seemed like they were waiting for the tide to recede. They had prominent green eyes, sometimes blinking slowly like a baby's. That was an amazing thing to see... and suddenly, I thought of the mermaids in the fairy tales I had read as a child. Well, I found them now!
