Challenge Rules
This week I had to make a battle with the Back to Basic ruleset, which makes it very difficult to build a team. The most important tip in this ruleset to use a strong Summoner and high health monster to survive as long as possible and in the meantime deal as much damage as possible.
BACK TO BASIC
Monsters lose all abilities.
Back row monsters are safe from enemy's Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity attacks. The ruleset places importance on Magic and Ranged attacks as melee attacks loose their ability to hit outside of the first position. Select monsters with high speed and choose a summoner that increases damage or defense against Magic or Ranged attacks. Lining up monsters in ascending order of their health is the way to go.
The Battle Ruleset
Back to Basic: Monsters lose all abilities.
This is a middle mana cap battle and every color can play except the Death Splinter, which will give a lot of option to me and to my opponent to choose from. I choosed the Water Splinter, because they have a lot of good magic attack monster and my favorite Djinn OShannus. 😋
My Team Composition
Kelya Frendul is a four mana Summoner and his ability is to increase the speed and armor to all of his friendly monsters by one. In the Wands Out ruleset the armor buff is pretty useless as the magic attack will ignore it completely.
The Djinn Oshannus is a very good tank here, because he has loads of health, two magic damage and the ability to reduce the incoming magic damage by one. The Phase ability makes him to dodge against the magic attacks as well.
Nerissa Tridawn was my second tank in this ruleset, because of her big health and three magic damage. I rented a gold foil version of her to increase my income from a winning battle with 10%.
I didn't have more magic attack cards rented on high level, so I had to use the Magi of Chaos and his two magic damage in my team.
The Water Caller is a very good card with the Stun ability. If this ability triggers it will stun the target monster and he will be unable to attack.
The Venari Wavesmith is a very good support card in the Water Splinter especially on level six, because he has 2 magic damage as well. The Protect a bit useless, because it doesn't work against a full magic attack team.
The River Nymph is my last magic attack monster and I hada to use her, because she has 2 magic damage as well. |
The Battle
My strategy did not work at all, because my opponent brought the new legendary airdrop summoner of Immortalis who is the perfect choice for this battle. He gives Void, Shatter to all of his friendly monsters and -1 health to my monsters.
The biggest problem with him is that the Void ability halves the magic attack damage of my monsters. Let's see what is happened in the battle.
My opponent had a way more stronger and expensive team than mine and the Void ability completely saved his team against my magic damage. It was impossible to win this without Immortalis as he dominated this two ruleset over any other Summoner. 😕
Do you like Back to Basic? Why or why not?
I do not really like this ruleset, becaue usually the biggest, quickest and richest monsters will win this game and it is very difficult for me to rent those kind of monsters for a rare battle like this. I like when the ruleset allows us to use some kind of tactic to take advantage over my opponent. 😎
