Hello, splinter-warriors. I hope you all are doing well.

Today, I will share a battle that features a keen battle strategy and dynamic battle conditions that brought out the player's monsters' abilities to the fullest.

Without further ado, let's begin!

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 27 and there are 3 summoners to choose from: Water, Nature, and Death.

Battle Rules:-

  • Blood and Sunder: All units have corrosive ward(-2 to attacker's armour only)
  • Counterspell: All units have magic reflect.

Keeping the mana cap, available summoners, and Battle Rules in mind, I decided to go with the summoned that would give me the best monster in its arsenal with high speed and good abilities for cheap; it is the Death Summoner.

Battle Details

Let's start from my side:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage for all enemy units by 1)(Level 5).

Tank: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns, Heal).

Melee Attackers: Arachne Thug(Ability: Reach, Trample), Uraeus(Ability: *Poison, Sneak), Silent Sha-vi(Ability: Sneak, Cripple).

Magic Attacker: Life Sapper(Ability: Life Leech).

Blocked Melee Attacker: Corpse Fiend(No Ability).

My strategy was to hit my opposition from the front and back. Therefore, my tank, which can heal itself, and the unit behind it were tasked to handle the incoming onslaught and cause some damage, while my sneak attackers were tasked to hit and maybe break his units from the back of his deck. I used Life Sapper to guarantee a damage reduction should he use monsters with flying ability as they tend to have a higher chance to dodge incoming melee attacks. Lastly, I used the unit with no ability in the middle to stretch out my deck and maybe cause corrosive damage to the attacker's shield.

My overall damage per round is 15, with three healing.

Now for the opposition's turn:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage for all enemy units by 1)(Level 2)(Gold Foil)

Tank: Shadow Snitch(Ability: Reach).

Non-attacking monsters: Riftwing(Ability: Flying, Scavenger).

Non-attacking monsters: Carrion Shade(Ability: Flying), Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns).

Ranged Attacker: Soul Strangler(No Ability).

Melee Attacker: Silent Sha-vi(Ability: Sneak).

His strategy was to use his flying unit's ability to dodge attacks while his sneak attacker would thin out my numbers from the back. This was perfect for the assault since it had no shield to lose. He also placed Windeku at the back of his deck, anticipating sneak attackers and knowing it was enough to thwart any sneak attacker combo. That way, his sole sneak attacker would completely deplete my deck from the back. while my monsters would continue to miss his and thus his Riftwing would gain more and more HP. His ranged attacker was a wild card and could be used as bait should it take the tank's position while his sneak attacker would try and dismantle my unit.

His overall damage per round is 6 damage per round.

Major Events

Screenshot (336).png

The first monster to fall at the end of the first half of the round in my Silent Sha-vi. His tactic was already in effect.

Near the end of the second half, my second sneak attacker fell.

And finally, my tank finished off his tank with a single hit at the end of the round.

At the beginning of the round, my Corpse Fiend fell, making it a flat 3 v 5 even though my overall damage per round and healing were higher than his. His Riftwing reaped another HP.

Screenshot (340).png

At the start of the round, my Life Sapper fell thanks to his Silent Sha-vi, and thus it turned into a dangerous 5 v 2, and his Riftwing reaped yet another HP.

At the start of the round, his Riftwing finally gave in while my Arachne Thug was at its final HP.

Screenshot (345).png

Moments later, my Thug fell, but this time his Riftwing could not reap an HP. So, the game turned into a 4 v 1 where my tank was the only unit that had the self-heal ability.

Screenshot (347).png

At the end of the round, his Carrion Shade got eliminated after it got hit by the thorns* as its attack connected with my tank. Finally, the game turned around into a 3 v 1.

Screenshot (348).png

At the end of the round, his Ranged attacker fell while his blocked tank and sneak attacker remained in play.

Screenshot (349).png

At the start of the round, Sha-vi got hit with the thorns and so the game turned into a 1 v 1, the showdown of tanks. Except that my tank can heal itself, therefore I had a complete advantage.

And, near the end of the round, his tank hit mine and got hit with the thorns. That way, I won a round where he clearly had an edge over my.

Results

I feel bad for the opposition since he clearly had the strategy to beat me, but my monsters were higher levels and had a clear edge over his low-level monsters. That way, my tank could heal itself by a third of its max HP while he had none, only a unit that could scavenge HP on any unit's death. This is exactly why having a good arsenal with a good/high level is a surefire way to see your strategy make moves in the game.
