Hello, splinter-warriors. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I will share a battle that captures all the elements of strategy and monster picking in the low level of the bronze Wild league. I climbed to the silver leagues in the Modern League which is why I'm trying to push it back to Silver and then to Gold.
Without further ado, let's begin!
Battle Conditions
The mana cap is 36 and there are 5 summoners to choose from: Fire, Nature, Life, Death, and Dragon.
Battle Rules:-
- Lost Magic- Units with magic attacks cannot be used.
Keeping the high mana cap and battle rules in mind, I knew I had to have a summoner that would give me an edge over my opposition regardless of which summoner he decided to pick. Of course, this mana cap means can be used to make a deck base around a single unit, preferably a tank, and try to pull off a lengthy victory.
Battle Details
Let's start from my side:
Tank: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns, heal).
Melee Attackers: Arachne Thug(Ability: Reach, Trample), Silent-Sha-vi(Ability: Sneak, Cripple).
Ranged Attackers: Lira The Dark(Ability: Oppotunity, Snare), Dhampir Stalker(Ability: Aim True, Deathblow).
Blocked Melee Atacker: Carrion Shade(Ability: Flying).
My strategy was to attack my opponent from the front while attack him from the back using 1 unit. Therefore, I used a tank that had the ability to self-heal. I paired it up with a high damaging unit behind the tank and used 2 ranged attackers top from which one of them was sure to land a hit and do high damage while the other would target their weakest link. I used Sha-vi at the back to act as a shield, should my Carrion fall even though it had flying ability, and to do damage from the enemy back lines.
My overall damage per round is 18 with 3 heal.
Now, for the opposition's side:
Summoner: Astral Entity(Ability: Decrease in shield by 2 for all enemy monsters. Grants dodge ability for all ally units. Can resurrect 1 monsters after it’s death)(Level 1)
Tank: Everhungry Skull(Ability: Flying).
Ranged Attackers: Ravenhood Warden(Ability: Protect), Dhampir Stalker(Ability: Aim True).
Melee Attackers: Silent Sha-vi(Ability: Sneak), Broken Earth Thug(Ability: Opportunity).
Blocked Melee Attacker: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns).
His strategy was to use the *battle rules to his advantage and have a tank with extremely high overall HP and deliver a full front assault while defending himself from the back. He used his Windeku at the back because he knew I would try to attack him from the back. He used a tank with high shield and cost low mana, that way he saved both mana, to use other heavy monsters or use them to pair up with other monsters in the back, and had a badass tank. Furthermore, he used Raven’s ability to increase the overall HP of all monsters by 2 thanks to its protect ability. He also used Stalker and Sha-vi like me. He used Earth Thug to attack my weakest link just like I tried to do with my Lira.
His overall damage per round is 11 per round with an increase in shield by 2 for all units, as long as Ravenhood stays up.
Major Events
The first monster to fall was my Carrion Shade. It could not deter any incoming damage.
In the final third of the round, the first monster to fall was his Skull but it got revived thanks to his summoner’s ability.
In the first half of the round, my Sha-vi falls thanks to his Windeku’s thorns.
Afterwards, his tank fell, again in the final third of the round.
In the first half of the round, my Stalker fell to his Sha-vi.
In the first quarter of the round, his Warden falls and so his overall HP falls by 2.
In the second half of the round, his Sha-vi falls thanks to my tank.
In the final quarter of the round, his Thug falls as it tried to take a piece of my tank and got a few thorns along with it. And from here, we know how the battle would progress since he has 0 damage for the few rounds to come.
In the first third of the round, his Stalker fell, leaving his tank alone.
Finally, his tank falls as it got thorns from my tank.
Results
I’m really curious about the placement of his Ravenhood Warden. Had he used it in the back and kept his other monsters in the front, I might’ve had a difficult time winning this battle. And, had he switched his Skull and Windeku’s locations, he might’ve had a better chance to face against my monsters and might’ve beaten at least 3 of my monsters or he could’ve beaten me as a whole. If his summoner level was high, that would also permit him to have a higher monster level. That way, he could’ve had a clean victory.
