Hello guys, I hope you are doing well.
This episode features a special bond between the powerful God Of War and his son Atreus. But before we reach this unique conversation, we must see its previous events.
Gameplay
Back in the dark elevator shaft. Kratos shoved the mechanism on and they were lifted towards the blue sky, free to roam once again.
I looked back one last time and saw the beautiful light coming out of the temple place.
Later, the gods walked to their abandoned river chariot and paddled away.
Atreus finds the courage and asks his father during the ride. He demanded to know if truly cared for Atreus, now that his mother was dead. But, Kratos silenced him at once. He told the boy that he had his way of grieving and that one had to keep a clear head to perform their journey. The weight f the responsibility dawned on the poor lad as he sat back in his side of the boat.
Kratos slowly explains to Atreus his predicament, the ways that he follows
was unknown to Atreus and it was not easy for him either. He told Atreus about his experience inside the light, there he felt that only moments had passed.
Atreus seemed satisfied with the answer. He asked if they were headed to Midgard to face the black breath or staying in the realm a bit longer to see what pleasantries it had in store for them.
I roamed the river in search of such 'treasures' but found no place where we could embark. Finally, I gave in and ran ashore to where Sindri's shop was.
This time he had an interesting story for us. He tells us about a fellow dwarf named Fafnir. This dwarf was an aggressive collector of magical artifacts, so much so that he once traveled deep inside Niflheim for a whetstone. The point of all this, Sindri has the key to his storeroom. That should help the two wandering gods. Lastly, Sindri requested that they bring the whetstone should they come across it once they get in.
Where was Fafnir now? He died some time ago but that didn't sadden Sindri at all, more that he believed that these things happen when you travel from realm to realm collecting priceless artifacts that don't belong to you.
The first thing that popped up was the lost items I had left on the battlefield. I claimed them all. I browsed some of his wares and sold some of my found artifacts.
I looked at the inventory again and equipped this new Summon I possessed. I upgraded it to level 2.
I upgraded my Leviathan Axe for the second time, making it a level 3 axe.
I bought a Resurrection stone with 1000 hack silver. This a handy stone that I will no doubt hesitate to use as I strive to not use costly things like this until a main event.
And lastly, I sold the Arcane shoulder wraps.
I headed toward the temple. Atreus tells us about a feeling he had when we were on the bridge to the temple. The voices in his mind, this wasn't the first time he heard them. Back when they met Brök for the time, he said about something hiding in the trees, that's why the horse thing was afraid to cross. Not that the horse thing told him telepathically but Atreus could feel what she was feeling, what she was afraid of.
The wheel of realms was shifted.
Within moments, they returned to Midgard once again.
Atreus greets Brök and informed him that they met his brother. He was a bit agitated as he reached for his hammer and said, "Even a blind pig could sniff out a truffle". Kratos gave his axe and as he examined it he saw good improvements, so he gives his own touch to this mix making it better as he called it.
Another option for dialogue was available, I opted and Brök talked about an alchemist working by the Völunder mines. He hasn't heard from him in 100 winters or so, probably dead but maybe Kratos could find him. He's a Dwarf as well, wears a fancy green ring, and owed Brök a favor.
If he was along their path, Kratos could try to look for him. So, Brök made him an offer he couldn't refuse. So, Brök gave them an entry stone that would allow them inside those mines.
Also, I somehow completed a task for Brök I didn't even know. I killed off a giant stone monster and fetched its heart. For that I got 365 XP, not a good trade and definitely not worth the time, considering this mode's difficulty.
We exited the temple and went straight for the Black Breath. I had the opportunity to roam about but there were no places in mind other than the maid story.
On the bridge, we met the new patrolling monsters. These ones are different than the Draugrs and self-healing ones, these can speed up toward you and attack just as fast with the addition that they could finish my whole HP bar in one attack. Terrible monsters. It took me 2 tries before I finally got through them.
We entered the place and headed to the foot of the mountain where the elevator was to the Black Breath.
But, here too were new enemy types. This place had wolves, really annoying ones that reduced my HP in quick succession. It took 1 try to get through them.
We switched on the gear and instantly we reached the Black Breath. Kratos pulled out the item that carried the light of Alfheim and pointed it toward the darkness.
Magically, the darkness was withdrawing back as the light purified the environment. Kratos moved ahead and cleared the entire path.
Now, we finally get to ascend the mountain. Kratos jumped onto a ledge and started to climb up, with Atreus clinging behind him like how little chimps cling to their parents.
Upon reaching the mouth, they found more black breath. Kratos shone the way and discovered an anvil. this resembled the ones they found on the door to Jötunnheim found in Tyr's temple, which proved the Giants had been there.
The area was dark and there were bodies of soldiers left on the corners of the dark empty space.
We finally enter the place. The place had a crevice. There was a statue of a deer situated on the other side of the place.
I roamed the place to find all the hidden goodies from the wooden boxes and instead found a mix of Draugrs and speedy Draugrs, easy to take down yet annoying when they come in a bunch.
Later, after switching on the mechanism and shifting the plates I realized that I needed another crystal that would allow me to create the bridge.
I went back to where I found and fought the Draugrs and found a crystal on top of a broken wooden floor. Atreus shot at it and brought it down.
Kratos carries it to the spot and placed it by the alter. Atreus shoots at both the crystals and Kratos pulls the mechanism.
This aligned the symbols and Atreus could make out what those meant. He reads the symbols and formed something.
This triggered the statue into stomping with the stick it had in its hand and opened a new door on the side of the cavern.
This meant that the giants wanted to test them further and only then will they be allowed to form and use the bridge.
Thank you guys for reading this far. I hope you liked the gameplay, see you legends on the next one!
