The chapel of St. Gallus in Oberstammheim is situated in a beautiful panoramic location above the village. The monastery of St. Gallen built its first church here in Carolingian times. It is a historic church dedicated to Saint Gallus an irish missionary in the early middle ages.
The chapel it is a small , rural with medieval frescoes and dates back to the 12th century.here is a peaceful eatmosphere in relation to the old daily life stress. Nestled among vineryards and rolling hills, sometimes is used for small weddings and community events. First mentioned in 897.
According a document from the year 761, which is kept in the Abbey Library of the monastery of St. Gallen. The Alemannic Isanhard give up his possessions in Stammheim, including people, cattle, buildings and land. To be able to provide the pastoral care for these people of God, the monastery built the Gallus church on the hill above the village,
