MAKING DECISIONS.

in #hive-15385010 months ago

Decision making is just like taking up a leadership position whether it's in your personal life, academics in your family, relationships, work, business etc.

This is because at the end of the day you have only yourself to blame or praise for the success and failure of these decisions.

I have watched my uncles and grandmother wait for my father who was the head of the family before making any major decision. During the time spent with my family in the past Christmas celebration there was a man that came to our compound to ask that he park his car inside our compound because it got spoilt thus he couldn't continue his journey with his car. It was just I and my senior sister at home but we knew it was very risky for us to make that kind of decision on our own subsequently we told the man to wait till my brother comes back so that he can tell him himself.

The reason we refused to take any decision on the matter were because

We felt pity for the man and really want to offer him help in the best possible way that we can.

Yet because of the rate of insecurity in the region one need to be very extra careful while dealing with strangers especially those who appear lost and desperate for help.

The man on the other part refused to wait and how his faulty car started functioning again remained a mystery to us. This happened around 8:30pm in the night and we were glad in the way we handled the matter.

Decisions once they are taken can either make you happy or mar you thus there are lots of things that I put into consideration before making a decision and few of them are :

Don't Make Decision When You Are Angry: this right here have sent many people to their early grave and have some living in regret for the rest of their life. Anger is an unpleasant emotion that is capable of driving one into very extreme actions. Many are rotting away in prison because they overreacted and made the worst decision of their lives. No good decisions can be make when one is overcrowded with that kind of unpleasant emotion because it defiles all forms of reasoning. So my number one step is to never make any decision when I am angry.

Seek Advice: When it comes to grave and complicated matters it is important that we don't take decisions by ourselves. Sometimes hearing the opinion of others who are more experienced in the field will help us to make the best decision out of very situation. It is paramount to know that it's not just anybody that you should go to for advice this is because some will end up adding more salt to the injury. I know of a woman that went to complain to her friend about her husband's behavior. The friend advised her to leave the marriage and she did. She regretted ever going to her friend for advice when that friend ended up marrying that same husband she advised her to leave.

How Long It Takes Me To Make Major Decision?

It takes me atleast three days to make major decisions. In these three days I must have called the right people for advice and also pondered on my own personal thoughts about the matter before taking a final decision.

Coping With Disappointed Coming From My Decisions.

In occasions where my decisions turned out to be not so good i will simply not beat up myself so much for making such poor decisions or apportion blame. I will also learn from it as it's an avenue to become wiser. Every failure is an opportunity to learn how to do it right the next time.

We've noticed that your engagement with other authors is poor, and that's not encouraging at all. You need to make comments on the post of others and also reply to comments on your posts as well. This is to foster growth within the community.

@bruno-kema I am sorry about that. I came online to engage on comments on my post and other posts too. I was busy before. I will promise to do better

Don't Make Decision When You Are Angry

You reminded me of the basics of any decision, don't do it if you're nervous, the worst decisions really are made at this moment.

Making decisions when emotions are running high is generally detrimental. I believe that this is not only true for anger, but for all other emotions. When we are very happy sometimes we do not measure the consequences and we say "yes" to practically everything. Or when we feel fear we can close ourselves off and say "no" to everything. And when we are angry... It's complicated... Very good reminder. I enjoyed reading it. Regards @amiableamara

Thank you @aaalviarez
That is why one of our native adage says that you should never hold on to the words a man said when he is extremely happy.

Lemme start by commending this picture you used as your Thumbnail Image. Haha. That's a very awesome picture that shows exactly what the topic is about.

The part about not making decisions when you are angry is very correct and it just feels like a lot of people would make better decisions if they observe this rule. Most of the wrong decisions people have made are decisions they made when they were angry or when they were drunk.

They always regret those decisions.

@kenechukwu97 thank you so much. I saw the picture and fall in love with it immediately ☺️

I can understand why you and your sister had to wait for your elder brother before deciding, the world is harsh these days and no one is to be trusted to talk more of a stranger, and yes seeking advice always helps as no one is an island of knowledge.

Of course. When my brother eventually came back he was glad that we told the man to wait for him. He said he wouldn't be happy if the man had left his car in our house without him seeing him first.
