What a beautiful new week it is fellow needle workers..
It's a pleasure to share with you my project for last week. It's one of my favorite project. I loved everything about it, the color combination and the style itself.
Last Thursday, I shared my market survey adventure how my school took us to the market to learn different kind of fabrics and their uses and more to that, to get them at a very cheap rate.
I bought different colors of crepe as I knew I had a lot to do with it and I bought these two beautiful colors(Royal Blue and powder blue). I had a small pieces of African fabrics left in the house so I thought of ways to get creative with it.
First thing I did was to draft my basic bodice and altered it since it wasn't a regular basic bodice but a shirt.
I used my hip allowance to make the shirt because I didn't want it to be so tight on me.
I divided my hip by four, places my shoulder measurement, basic neckline and added allowance for the fasteners.
I did all on my pattern paper before transferring it to my main fabrics.
For the sleeve, I drafted a basic sleeve and added about three inches allowance so that I could have what to pleat to give it a puffy effect.
I used the two colors for two different sleeves and added a band on the wrist side is about 2.5 inches each in width and 15 inches in depth.
For the back, I used a round neckline of three inches by inches and added only seam allowance to the sides. I made use of the Royal Blue fabrics for the back and used same color for the collar.
The collar stand was cut in the powder blue fabric and I just love the fact that I played with colors.
The challenge I had making this outfit was an unstable power supply as there was no way I could interface without power.
This led me to sew into midnight as that was when the light came on and became stable.
I also quickly made a white pant to pair as it my my project submission for last Friday.
The little ankara I had was used as a spice on my shirt which had a belt at the back. When my tutors saw my designs they were wowed.
Here is the different angles of this pretty outfit, the back view.
The front or side view.
Up close back view again.
When I shared the picture with a friend, she wanted to collect it but thank God she is on a bigger side so there's absolutely no way she can take this outfit by force. 🤣
I'm wearing this to an event next week Saturday and I can't wait to be center of attraction when I walk graciously into the event venue.
What's your favorite thing about this outfit? For me it's the color combination, I'll love to hear yours.
Images used belong to me. Outfit cut and sewn by me..
