I went to the club's gym a couple of days ago and I couldn't help but realize how rusty the dumbbells are and how shabby the machines are. It could've been a 100x better place just with some simple maintenance. This piece of land the gym is built on is worth tens of millions of dollars, yet it's barely hanging on!
It made me think of how important maintenance is, not just in buildings and facilities!
I studied over 3 programming languages when I was 14 years old. Now, ten years later, I can't write a single line of code. You already know why; I did not maintain it.
Bodybuilders know that maintaining a good body shape is as important and difficult as developing it in the first place. It's common sense then!
As we're always looking forward to learning new skills, we must also intentionally maintain and sharpen our existing ones. Get better at what you do. In many cases, that will be more fruitful than finding new things to get better at.
