"Mommy I have a very exciting idea"
"Yes sweetheart I'm listening, tell me your idea"
"Why don't we play Jenga?"
"We're in the middle of eating dinner my angel"
"Not right now; once we are done with dinner!"
"Then it's going to be time to brush our teeth and get ready for bed"
"But mom pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaasssssseeeeeeeee? Pretty pretty lovely please with a lemon on top?"
"Hahaha why is there a lemon on top of your pretty please?"
"It's not MMMYYYYY lemon, but it's going to be your lemon if you don't play Jenga with me"
By this point I know what is coming next so I glance away from my food and look over in her direction and she's making the biggest pleading puppy dog eyes with praying hands next to her cheek.
I had to laugh at this gesture because aside from the lemon sounding somewhat menacing, the imploring look on her face kinda twisted my heart into knots (and my arm) and I gave in with conditions.
"Come here my little munchkin. Yes, ok we can have one game of Jenga to a maximum of half an hour and when I say bedtime, then it's brushy teeth and off to bed ok - is that fair?" while hugging her. The smile beaming from one side of her face to the other.
"Yippee that's fair. Wanna pinky shake on it?"
"Yup we can do"
We only ended up having one game of standard Jenga (which she won of course) before little miss muffet started freestyle building a massive construction bridge.
I decided to try find an alternative to the standard Jenga tower. What I came up with was just as thrilling as the original. I won that round lol.
We may have ended up playing for slightly longer than half an hour, but once I called an end to the play time, LL didn't try to wiggle her way into an extension. She seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed it, I know I did. Then she diligently took me by the hand to brush toofies before we headed to bed. Out for the count within minutes.
I wonder if she'll be dreaming of Jenga blocks and construction bridges tonight? Perhaps I'll find out in the morning.
