Jenga Fun before Bedtime

My daughter may only be turning 5 this year but she has the negotiation tips and techniques of a seasoned mafia boss lol.

"Mommy I have a very exciting idea"
"Yes sweetheart I'm listening, tell me your idea"

"Why don't we play Jenga?"
"We're in the middle of eating dinner my angel"
"Not right now; once we are done with dinner!"
"Then it's going to be time to brush our teeth and get ready for bed"
"But mom pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaasssssseeeeeeeee? Pretty pretty lovely please with a lemon on top?"
"Hahaha why is there a lemon on top of your pretty please?"
"It's not MMMYYYYY lemon, but it's going to be your lemon if you don't play Jenga with me"

By this point I know what is coming next so I glance away from my food and look over in her direction and she's making the biggest pleading puppy dog eyes with praying hands next to her cheek.

I had to laugh at this gesture because aside from the lemon sounding somewhat menacing, the imploring look on her face kinda twisted my heart into knots (and my arm) and I gave in with conditions.

"Come here my little munchkin. Yes, ok we can have one game of Jenga to a maximum of half an hour and when I say bedtime, then it's brushy teeth and off to bed ok - is that fair?" while hugging her. The smile beaming from one side of her face to the other.

"Yippee that's fair. Wanna pinky shake on it?"

"Yup we can do"

We only ended up having one game of standard Jenga (which she won of course) before little miss muffet started freestyle building a massive construction bridge.

I decided to try find an alternative to the standard Jenga tower. What I came up with was just as thrilling as the original. I won that round lol.

We may have ended up playing for slightly longer than half an hour, but once I called an end to the play time, LL didn't try to wiggle her way into an extension. She seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed it, I know I did. Then she diligently took me by the hand to brush toofies before we headed to bed. Out for the count within minutes.

I wonder if she'll be dreaming of Jenga blocks and construction bridges tonight? Perhaps I'll find out in the morning.

So cute when children do that… enjoy those fun times together 🤗🥰

Hello @littlebee4

It's such a cute age she's at now. Tiring at times but totally worth it. Her puppy dog eyes are the best heart string pullers EVER lol

Hello @andrastia 👋🏻

It’s a cute age indeed. Enjoy it, even though tiring sometimes. Time will go fast. Soon they want to do all alone… 😉
Happy Wednesday ☀️

Nurture those negotiation skills as thought like that, the ability to negotiate, will take her far...but...please with lemon on top? She's a cutie.

Hi Becca

This is my little oompa loompa I told you about the other day. I am hoping she got those skills from me, but I often look at her and wonder where she comes up with the things she says.

Hope you are well. I must swing by your blog again.

She's a cutie; got the skills from you and the looks also I'm guessing.

Becca 💗

Wow how did you capture the last image in time before it tumbled?

Hello Relf

Hope you are doing well.

That tower was the new design that I came up with, it was cool that it leaned that far before capitulating and then exploded on the table lol. I do love this game, it's great fun!

It's little moments like these that make it all worthwhile 😌❤️ Props to your daughter for her negotiation techniques - loved the seasoned mafia boss comparison 👏🏼😁 Also, great capturing skills ✨

Hello Boryana

Thanks so much for stopping by and for the message. Yes the negotiations get me laughing so often, she is a funny little one. Thanks for the kind words, I agree that these little moments count, I love capturing them and hopefully one day they will serve as a nice photo album scrapbook for her as well.

Have a lovely day/night Boryana 🌷

Love the idea of the photo album scrapbook! Especially filled with spontaneous moments 😊

Have a great and sunny weekend ☀️

Those are some excellent negotiation skills!

Annabelle 😊

I'm the Jenga King of the world, which translates to, I've never won a game, but still talk a big game so people think I have. I know, I'm a nutbag.

Nice blur-action on the LL image. ✅

Lol I find it hard to believe you've never won a game...you let the other person win don't you??

I can just imagine you extremely slowly pushing out a block - like taking
F O R E V E R (to frustrate the other player and make them frazzled) 🤣

Much obliged, I got a tip from a good friend on a which photo app is best for that 😉

When I read the title I was in the middle of creating a complicated quote for work and in my mind it read:

Jenga fun in bed

Ok, that didn't happen at all...or did it?

I find it hard to believe you've never won a game...you let the other person win don't you?

Hmm, well sure, let's go with that.

Actually no, I never let the other person win. I think my problem is I always go for the bold moves, the dangerous ones, and it brings me undone. Maybe I'm just too extreme for Jenga. (I mean traditional Jenga here, bed-Jenga...well, let's just leave that unsaid.

Ah yes, you know me so well. I'm a frustrating fucker.

Ok I reckon you would probably let your nephew win a few rounds.

It's a lot of fun for kids their age and the anticipation of the cascade is always awesome to watch. I would imagine you being a fun person to play with.

I'm not even going to ask what Bed-Jenga entails (is that even a real thing?🤔)

I would as it's good for the little ones to have a win sometimes, but I believe he will grow up like me, not valuing being allowed to win and preferring to win through effort and hard work. I absolutely hate being allowed to win. Drives me bonkers.

Bed-Jenga...One must have an imagination to understand it.

I'm sure he will grow up trying to pull off the difficult manouvres, he clearly is very bright from the success he's had with building the Lego and that requires some serious dedication and attention to detail. It's awesome that you gave him a good foundation in the steps of keeping things organised and quality control.

Lol yes, I know that and that's exactly why I wasn't going to ask about it - my mind filled in the blanks.

Saucy minx.
