Have you ever heard of Tatsoi? We call this beautiful green vegetable from the same family as mustard greens, also pak choy.
This is the first time I have planted Tatsoi in my garden. Before focusing on gardening activities, I didn't know about Tatsoi directly, because I couldn't find it in the market. I only watched it on YouTube.
After going deep into the world of gardening, I was interested in planting Tatsoi in my garden. From what I learned from YouTube, Tatsoi is a vegetable that is quick to harvest and easy to care for, just like pak choy and mustard greens.
Finally, I bought Tatsoi seeds, then started sowing them, and planted them in polybags. After 30-40 days of transplanting, you can see in the following photo, the Tatsoi plants are so beautiful. Shaped like flower petals.
To be honest, it is not difficult to grow and care for Tatsoi. It's just that, because I grew them organically, it made the grasshoppers devour these yummy Tatsoi. That's not a problem, and I don't feel at all competitive with grasshoppers because grasshoppers also need to eat. Also, they do not make the plant die.
If grasshoppers like these vegetables, it means these vegetables are delicious and free from chemicals. That's a good indication, and you don't need to be afraid that your plants will look ugly if their leaves are eaten by grasshoppers . That is normal in organic gardens. :)
Oh, look at them. Looks really cute! Have you ever seen Tatsoi before? After harvesting Tatsoi, I decided to cook those Tatsoi for lunch.
How to cook Tatsoi is very easy. Just like other green vegetables such as pak choy. We just need to stir-fry them briefly with garlic and ginger, with sweet soy sauce. In some versions, Tatsoi can also be served raw as vegetable salad. Because Tatsoi have light stems, it makes their taste lighter compared to mustard greens and also pak choy.
THE INGREDIENTS
- 150 grams of Tatsoi
- a thumb-sized ginger, flattened
- 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 5 cloves of red onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp of sweet soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp of coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp of pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/4 cup of water (50 ml of water)

SERVING
Serve these yummy stir-fried Tatsoi with rice or potato / sweet potato. Adding some seeds, here I use sesame seeds for the topping. Sprinkle sesame seeds for serving.
I enjoyed Tatsoi for lunch with boiled sweet potato. It tasted delicious and I even tasted this vegetable which was similar to pak choy only with thinner stems, so their taste was milder.
If you like salads, then salads can also be a good choice to serve these beautiful Tatsoi. I hope you like my recipe. Until next on my garden and my kitchen. Have a great day.
