Greetings my dear friends of @Motherhood, it is a privilege for me to be able to share once again a new topic and tell my experiences as a mom. The topic I want to expose today is about my techniques to face those terrible and dreaded colds of our little ones, which always wrinkles our hearts seeing them so weak because of some virus.
Allergies and colds: these are commonly produced by foreign substances, weather changes, or by being in contact with a sick person; so I face it with a dose of antiallergic I usually use (desloratadine) very effective in these cases, of course the dose depends on the weight and age of your baby so if you have already consulted the doctor recently you will know the amount. It is usually one dose at 7 o'clock in the evening.
Flu with fever: In this case, it differs when it is a flu from a common cold because there is a fever, when I notice a lot of mucus in Saori I directly use an anti-flu, and depending on how her cough is I use an expectorant, for a week this treatment calms her cough and helps her to expel everything that she cannot expel by herself, in these cases I use an economic and effective expectorant. When she has a little bit of a cold, the pediatric acetaminophen is what her pediatrician usually recommends and is what I use every 6 to 8 hours that she is having high body temperatures.
Infections: This is one of the most unfortunate cases and the one that many times as mothers we whip ourselves with our thoughts wondering what we have done wrong? Well, it happened to me on two occasions, the first time I had to nebulize my daughter and my heart broke into a thousand pieces, long after this, she got another flu that I did not treat properly and expectorants did not work so the doctor prescribed antibiotics, thank God there was no need to nebulize.
During the pandemic it was complicated to keep the checkups with the pediatrician, so I looked up previous prescriptions and followed it to the letter when my child presented with a cold and what I have learned during these battles is:
- If I see my daughter with any distemper from an allergy or cold I start her treatment with anti-allergics 😪.
- In case the flu has developed stronger I immediately do what is necessary to buy an expectorant and start her treatment religiously 😣.
- Not waiting until he has a fever to give him paracetamol 🤒.
- Do not give her any kind of homemade prescription because it is not recommended when they are so small 😶.
- Take care of her and her treatment so she doesn't develop an infection. (Thank God it hasn't happened to me anymore). 😷
- Experience teaches us and prepares us not to make the same mistakes. 😔
- No matter how much we take care of them they always want to play with children who have the flu 🤧
