Real frosts have come to our region tonight. The thermometer showed -31 degrees Celsius in the morning. I didn't even think about the fact that my car wouldn't be able to start. But for tonight, the forecast shows an even greater decrease in air temperature. By Saturday, the frost should increase to -35 degrees.
In such frosts, birds suffer very much. They need to get enough food so that their body gets the right energy. It is especially difficult for small birds in winter. Visually, they increase in size and become like small fluffy lumps or even balls.
This chickadee sat on the branch closest to the window and fearlessly cleaned the seeds and ate them.



Very successfully, the Sun illuminated this model, who was sitting on a branch and was not going to fly anywhere. She needs to conserve her strength.
A couple of days ago, tits weren't that round. And if you raise the summer photos, they have increased in size by more than 2 times. I'm serious about this! But the increase in size was definitely not due to an increase in body weight, but due to the fluff on the bird. This is how the bird warms up. The air between the fluffs creates an excellent heat-saving system, this is one of the best types of insulation!






During the day, I filled the feeders with sunflower seeds 2 times. In the late afternoon, the tits were sitting on a tree and looking in my direction. I realized that I just had to add more food.
In the evening, I left home for 2 days. I warned my wife that in the morning it was necessary to check the feeders and add more seeds. But I'm afraid she won't do it. She doesn't have such a well-practiced reflex. I'll try to remind my wife about the birds again in the morning.
