"Nemb" is the story of a man who loses control and forgets what to do because others force him to be what they want him to be. The video is supposed to be a song for teenagers, as it contains many scenes featuring a teenage girl and her mother. The "disorder" is described as a way in which young people (usually teenagers) feel pressured to live up to the expectations of many people, especially their family (usually parents). The lyrics “Everything I want / is more like me, be like you” (in Spanish: “Everything I want / is more like me and be like you”) is a clear example.
"Numb" was used on Jay-Z's album Collision Course (2004), a remix of the rapper's song "Encore." Finally, there was "Numb/Encore", which was released as a single that same year. "Numb/Encore" won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance.
Jay-Z and Linkin Park performed "Numb/Encore" at Live 8 in Philadelphia in 2005. LP also performed "Numb" at Live Earth in Tokyo, Japan, in July 2007.
In 2004, Brad Delson introduced a new heavy guitar riff on "Numb", performed on Rock am Ring. Although played in the trailers and at the beginning of Miami Vice, "Numb/Encore" did not appear on the film's soundtrack. But first you will hear this song in clubs. Directed by Joe Hahn, the video was filmed in a church in Los Angeles, with exteriors filmed in Prague, Czech Republic. The interior of the school, classrooms, corridors and courtyard are located in the Johannes Kepler gymnasium in Prague.
The video explores the domestic and social problems that an unpopular young student, played by Briana Evigan, faces throughout the day. The girl seems to spend a lot of time drawing. This indicates that she dreams of becoming an artist. He is ignored and made fun of at school. While he was drawing in class, his teacher objected to him and his classmates laughed at him. When he is pushed up the stairs, no one stops to help him. And when he tries to join a group of girls for lunch, they immediately get up and leave. There is also a scene where a mother makes fun of her daughter for not having the daughter she wants. When the video ends, the girl runs off to the church where the band played the song.
