The flowerhorn is probably one of the more unique fish you might find in freshwater. They first emerged for sale on the aquarium markets in Malaysia in the late 1990s and soon became popular in many countries across Asia. They are now commonly kept by hobbyists in the US, Asia, and European countries.

Flowerhorns come in many different shapes and colors. The male fish come in bright and vivid colors ranging from anywhere on the color spectrum. Female flowerhorns come in many different colors as well and typically have an orange belly. Both male and female flowerhorns have a protruding forehead and a long tail which is said to bring good luck to the surrounding areas geomancy.

These species of fish are an invasive kind that were never meant to live in the wild, but exist due to transporting and public release. However, they do make loveable little pets in large aquarium homes!

Flowerhorn fish are sometimes considered to be signs of fortune, luck, health, and prosperity by collectors. Next time you see one, rub its belly for good luck!

Its not the size of the horn that counts

Flowerhorn Cichlids can become rather large at full maturity. They can reach anywhere from 10 to 16 inches long when they reach adulthood. Their maximum length seems to largely depend on how well they are cared for as improper care will stunt their growth and shorten their lifespan.

We will continue to show more information on these fish as time comes. More information can be read about these fish HERE.

That's all we have for today shop keeps! Keep on swiming!
