Mycelic Morphoid seems boring, but no monster that costs one mana is ever bad. When you look at how it levels up on the Stats page, you realise how versatile it is. In the following nine battles from accounts automated by Archmage and submitted by our users, you can see some of this utility at play.
Overall Impressions
This card is built for the meta. Mylor was king before Chaos Legion. Then they rebuilt green to be magic themed, so it made sense to add a one drop that was no good with Mylor, but went only with their new theme. Lyanna likes having the bonus Thorns monster sometimes though.
One drops are just good. Always. Because maths. You sometimes need to fill a slot. And so the Mycelic Morphoid will always be used.
Level 4 Obsidian punches above its weight here versus a Level 5 Lyanna Natura. But, oh, the misses against the Unicorn Mustang and the Regal Peryton are real! They are more impactful here than the Mycelic Morphoid soaking a couple of hits on the tail end.

Bronze here. Level 1 Obsidian versus Level 1 Kelya Frendul. Kelya's strat is a bunch of monsters with one magic attack. Against the Void on the Mustang, one magic attack tickles. You can watch.

Level 2 Obsidian wins over Level 1. Some extra levels on the gold foil cards help here. Also the Level 2 Obsidian does slightly more work with the summoner buff. Taunt is always handy.

Level 3 Obsidian beats up on Level 2 Sloan. Donate your Gold Foil Goblin Psychic Level 4 to this address please... Joking. Levels matter. It is a recurring theme. The Psychic is also a great card. Tank Heal and Affliction so good.

Level 2 Obsidian beats Level 2 Kelya. Morphoid Level 3. Did we forget that was the feature card? It's so unassuming. But here it has Thorns. Sadly, that's inconsequential. Happily, it's still a win.

Level 3 Obsidian plays Level 2 Mylor. May Hunter Jarx win! No, +1 Magic Attack summoners win. That has never happened in the past though. So surprising. No... This is new! Jarx, the victor!

Level 1 Obsidian beats Level 2 Obsidian. How? By using Void and Tank Heal combo to counter a magic lineup that itself is better against a Sneak or Opportunity team.

Level 4 Obsidian destroys Level 1. And so it should be. Why else level up your cards? An absolute hammering.

Level 4 Obsidian winning over Level 2 is the same story. This is the best game of all because the Morphoid gets to land a hit! A mirror match in monsters too, this one is all levels.
