Hogwarts Legacy Review
I haven't been able to write a game review for a long time because I've been working abroad, but now I'm back home and one of my close friends has joined the military. He left me his playstation 5 on his way to the army. So I will be able to share a few ps5 games with you. First of all, I chose one of the games I'm most curious about, Hogwarts Legacy. Lets start!
I will try not to give spoilers about the game.
If you see a text like this, this is a slight spoiler. This is just first one hour impession. I do not know the full story. We will explore together. So, there will be NO MAJOR SPOILERS in this article.
First One Hour Impressions
Honestly, at the very beginning of the game I was so engrossed that I forgot to take a screenshot. But I can summarize the game like this;
''Like the Harry Potter movies I remember''
It's not what the movies are really like. We saw the movies when we were kids. They have a different effect on our minds. It's another to imagine what they make us imagine. For those reasons, when I played this game, I felt like I was in the movies. It was as if I was back to my childhood. This is one of the most important things.
I started the game with zero expectations because it seemed almost impossible for me to go back to my childhood. But that was not the case and the game was really beautifully designed and managed to invite me into the magical world I remembered as a child.
Very Successful Use of Soundtracks
When it comes to the Harry Potter universe, we all know the famous music. It rings in our ears. That music brings back very pleasant and beautiful memories for me. It reminds me of my excitement while watching that movie with my family in the theater. When I have a child in the future, I will make him watch this movie, it is a really beautiful movie. And at least he won't have to wait for years like us.
The music is very well placed. The background sounds and environment sounds are perfectly adjusted. At least especially in the first hour. The beginning of some games is great and then everything plays over and over and over again. That's why the Wither game was so successful because the music changed spatially. I expect the same performance from Hogwarts Legacy.
As I mentioned before, the music is actually very important for us.

Graphics and Environmental Design are Faithful to the Movies and The Successful Design Is Not Exaggerated
Sometimes we see examples in movie adaptation games or game adaptation movies where they ignore the designs and try to recreate something themselves. But that's not what happened in this game.
The movies were already successful and they had a very good series. And then when they tried to change it, we witnessed in the Fantastic Beasts movie what happens when they try to change it, and how little it holds. There were a lot of people who couldn't find the same excitement and the same texture. That's what I was expecting when I started this game.
I thought they were trying to invent something new, thinking that the old should stay old, but they didn't. At least so far. They really seem to be sticking to the movie. There's not an overabundance of spells popping up everywhere. Or the edges and corners are the same as in the movie. The graphics look like they went and did a photo scan at Hogwarts. Maybe they even created a few sets themselves.
The visuals really draw you into this world. It feels like you're playing a game and watching a movie at the same time.
My answers lead me to Hufflepuff but I choose Slytherin
A friend told me that Slytherin has more side quests. I mean, my friend who lent me the PS5, so I tried to answer him accordingly when the hat was on my head. And then he told me that we could choose. So I chose Slytherin.
I don't know why there are more quests in Slytherin, to be honest, I don't know if that's true. I need to do some research. But I can't say that I see myself as a Slytherin. Because when I gave the answers, I got Hufflepuff.
I chose Slytherin as my friend suggested because I wanted to play the game in depth and because I enjoy a roleplay game. Dungeons and dargons game is also fun to play sometimes, so I make choices according to my character. Not according to what I want. I think I will play this character as a bit egotistical and dark person.
Easy and Enjoyable to Play and Combat, Controls Easy to Learn
I'm a PC gamer, I'm not a Playstation gamer, but I do occasionally play on PS thanks to my friend. Honestly, it's very difficult for me to learn the controls again in each game, to learn how to look around and especially to learn the fighting mechanics. I personally can't play FPS games on PS.
But this game teaches you in a very nice way. At least in normal mode. At the very beginning of the game we had to fight a few statues and I liked the way it teaches you, so I found the tutorial part successful.
In some games you get halfway through the game before you understand it and learn the features and you feel like quitting.
But here I think they tried to keep it simple and they succeeded. Therefore, I can say that I like the control part, the learning part and the combat part even though I have played very little yet.
I'm sure the combat part will get harder as the spells increase. But it's best to learn over time. Instead of showing a lot of things at once and confusing what to do, learning in order and spreading this throughout the game will always give a feeling of improvement.
A Game that Nourishes Our Inner Child's Instinct to Explore
Everywhere I look, I see something I want to see. It's a great feeling to watch and examine in detail what I saw in the background in the film.
It is completely different to stop and look at the films and to see it live in the game like this. Let's be honest, none of us stop the films, but we always wish they would show more of this place. Here they gave that sense of discovery very well. After coming to Hogwarts, I spent minutes just in the Slytherin room.
It was very satisfying to discover new things as I looked around. So far this game managed to make me happy. I can't wait for the story. If I come across some nice screenshots, I can't wait to share them with you. I'm sure I'll see a lot of different things.
Final Thoughts
I've been playing for a little over an hour. I don't know what I will see in the future, but I started to get a lot of inspiration even for my own dungeons and dragons tabletop game.
It taught me better how a game can draw us in the world. The environment design is very pleasant, the sense of curiosity, the characters are nice so far. Learning spells and trying to understand what is going on around keeps you excited.
In the coming days, after playing a few more hours and learning a little more about the game, I plan to write a new opinion. I hope you liked what I shared so far.
Thank you very much for reading.
