Shards of Time

"Daddy, Daddy, can you tell me about one of your adventures before you go to sleep?" said the little girl. The adventurer added with a smile. It had been his dream for years to tell his children about his old adventures, and now he could do it almost every night. Except, of course, for the days of womanizing. And he hadn't yet told them about the bloody battles.

"Of course, my dear girl, I'll tell you right away. I'll tell you the story of the beautiful ring on your mother's finger and the beautiful ring on yours.

After I met your mother, I realized that I loved her very much and I never wanted to lose her. Then I went to the most powerful wizards of the time and asked them how I could give her a healthy life. I went to many wizards. I went to old wizards with white beards, I went to wizards of forest magic... I even went to young wizards with a bright future. And this is the answer they gave me: "You will go to the island of lightning, where time passes fast, and you will collect lightning. This will make your cells heal faster. Illnesses heal faster. And you will go to the underwater kingdom where time passes slowly and you will collect peace. This will make your mind heal faster. And finally you will combine them where time stands still. Then you can give him a healthy life with the resulting gift." They said.

So I sailed to Thunder Island. But when I got there, the wind picked up as I got closer. The waves grew bigger. They were all very rough. They all seemed to be moving twice as fast. Looking back, I thought the sun was setting faster than the horizon. But I didn't give up. I didn't give up. We sang shanty songs to give my sailors strength. And finally we made it. We came to the island in the eye of the storm. I climbed to the top of the mountains and approached the clouds. I had nothing to collect the storm. But I needed to collect lightning. So I drew my sword and summoned the lightning.

Then I had to find the city of peace under the water. For this I took a monk with me and he taught me how to meditate peacefully. Then, when we were on the ship in the middle of the sea, we jumped into the water and slowly swam to the bottom. It became dark all around us. The lights we were carrying started to move slowly. And I could use my breath longer. We found a city in those depths. When the king of the city spoke, I felt like I was losing years. And I was afraid your mother would think I had died waiting for me in the village. The king of the city turned to me and said he understood I was restless. He told me that I could not help anyone else without first calming my own inner peace. So I took a deep breath, a breath that seemed to last for years. I thought of your mother, but I had finally found peace. I inhaled peace with my breath and then we left this underwater city.

By the time I got back it seemed like years to me, but the crew on the ship told me we had only been gone a few minutes. Time had passed very slowly for me and very quickly for them.

Then I went back to the village and told your mother about the adventures. I was a stronger man now, braver and more peaceful, peace in my breath. But no matter how much we thought, we couldn't find the thing where time stopped. We searched, but we couldn't find it.

So I took my sword with the lightning bolt and took it to the blacksmith. Then he made us rings out of it. One for me and one for your mom.
I proposed to your mother with this ring, but when she touched it, she was electrocuted. She needed peace. I blew, but it wasn't enough. It was necessary to blow where time stood still.

Your mother accepted anyway and we got married. Then she got pregnant and her birthday came. You were to be born. I was so excited. I couldn't stand still. I was walking up and down in front of the house, rubbing the lightning rings on my hands.

I thought I had to calm down and I sat down on the ground, leaning against the tree opposite the house. I breathed.
I breathed out.
It was as if time was not passing. I wasn't even sweating.
It was like the sunlight was stabbing me.

That's when I realized, I blew on the rings in my hand, slowly, without rushing. I blew, I blew peace.

Then the rings calmed down. The lightning penetrated the metal. There was a peaceful stillness.

Then came the sound of crying. Your voice.

I put the rings in my pocket and ran into the village house and saw you. That's when I put one of these magical rings on your mother and the other on you. Because I wanted you both to have a healthy life...

That is how... oh! You are sleeping already!

What a fantastic story! I loved it :D I like that he had to do a proper hero's quest and assemble these seemingly impossible bits together to make the rings. Awesome story!

Thaaank you so much I'm glad I you loved it 😁😄

I love that this had a happy ending 😀

It shows me that when I write, I don't have to accept the dark pictures that come into my head; the mother doesn't have to be long dead from the time difference or killed by the lightning in the ring. It is possible for the story to end happily. Thank you !

Yesss I love happy endings too thank you so much for reading 📚 🤗
