One of this week's prompt from the Ladies of Hive community is what if we forget Valentine's Day. How does one show we really care on the day of love instead? Well, I could think of nothing else but to show love for God and pray for others. After all it is also Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, on February 14. 😉
Like what? Why oh why should we even care to pray for other people? And why should we show love to God? Well sorry to burst other people's bubbles but it's time we stop thinking about ourselves alone. Time to stop thinking about our own family only. We are not the center of the universe.
You know, we always ask things from God and yet we don't show Him how much we love Him. That's sad right? Also, you know there are so many people with problems out there, right? And for sure we can't always act on providing service or physical help to others. So what are we to do?

1. Show Your Love for God
Personally, I think asking God for personal favors all the time whenever we pray does not make Him happy. Like, why would it make Him joyful when all we ever do is ask, ask and ask and nothing else?
What do we think of God, a genie? Is Jesus our slave who does things for us all the time? Remember that God is our creator, Jesus our savior while the Holy Spirit is our guide. What does that mean for you?
What should a creation of God do when communicating with the Holy Trinity? Can you guess?
Do you have an idea what you should say to your Lord? Think of it this way... For example your parents, how do you communicate with them?
God is more than our parents, so how should we interact with Him? Care to share your thoughts?
Here's what I was able to come up with on what to do when we talk to God.
- Show our respect, gratitude and love.
- Praise the Lord.
- Ask what He wants us to do. (His will be done.)
- Offer something to Him.
So you see, showing love for God is something we should also be doing. But do you know how to give glory to God? How and when do you praise the Lord?
Here's something to think about: What will you be doing to show your love for God?
For me, sometime last year I started praying before each meal. I came up with my own prayer and it always includes thanksgiving. I never used to do that since I was a kid. And I also learned to visit the Lord in the Adoration chapel primarily just to say hello and talk to Him. Silently I pray and praise the Lord whenever and wherever I can. I know that's not enough but those are some of the things I could think of to do for now.
What do the saints do to show their love for God? They follow God's will. Anything He and the Blessed Mother says, they do. Obedience, humility and love are the virtues they all possess. And they also become a willing "victim soul" to show their love for God and humanity.
What better way to show love than to offer oneself for others? That's what Jesus did and thus He brought us out of death and into eternal life.

So it's time to think about how we can show God our love starting on Ash Wednesday/Valentine's Day.
2. Pray for Other People and Spread Some Love
On February 14, let's do something new for other people too. If we cannot physically provide goods and services to the needy, prayers are the next best thing!
If you've read some of my previous posts you'd learn about "offering it up", the Precious Blood of Jesus and the First Saturdays. These are some of the ways we can show our love for humanity. Choose which one you prefer to do this Ash Wednesday.

- Your Pain and Suffering is Worth More Than Gold If... (2 of 2)

Let's Make Valentine's Day Something More Than Just Romantic Love
Those are my thoughts on what we can do to be able to follow God's greatest commmandments. Jesus said loving God and our neighbors (other people) are the top two commandments we should follow. What better way to do that than on the day we celebrate love, right?
So what do you think? Does this sound feasible and exciting? Are you able to do one or two of the above suggestions or do you have your own ideas? Feel free to share in the comments. 😉
