Hi, I am Arveno and i am from Surabaya city Indonesia. I want to make content about my country Indonesia. I believe there is many different and similarities with other countries about my country. But, i am pretty sure there is many things that only happening in my country not in another country. And i do believe that in every country there still have urban legends that really scary and creepy.Of course in my country there are some urban legends about ghost and it was really scary to many children in my country. Maybe some of adult too. And here 5 Scariest Ghost in Indonesia by me
1. Pocong
This ghost is really famous in my country. From village to city always know this ghost. Since mostly religion in Indonesia is Muslim. So, when muslim people need to be Pocong. So, basically their body need to wrapped in kafan cloth. I dont know very much about this tradition since i am not muslim and i am not descendants from Java race. Thats why i am not too familiar with this tradition. But, what i heard is, mostly when people died the body need to be washed and wrapped with Kafan cloth and closed all the hole in the body. to make the soul rest in peace. But, the urban legends said that if the dead body still having unfinished business. The dead body will going alive again,searching,and make the business finished. Mostly because of grudge because of murdered or killed by accident and the perpetrator did not want to be responsible at all. In my country many movies bring this ghost theme as great and creepy story. And because of that many kid and teenager will be very afraid with this urban legends. For me myself, i never seen this ghost at all. Yeah i did not wish to encountered with this ghost either. But, i have sixth sense that can look the ghost in some place. And never seen this one. But the visualization at Movie in my country for this ghost is really awesome and very creepy.
2. Kuntilanak
This is the second ghost that very famous in my country. There is called Kuntilanak. This ghost is haunting people mostly because need revenge to people that murdered this woman. I dont know what the truth of the story. But, what i know from movies is because this ghost need to justice after got killed. They did not accept what caused the death. Especially when the woman got raped first before got killed and thrown away to forest. I am afraid with this ghost. Really. I seen many times of this ghost. Mostly just like casual woman that wearing white dress with pale face. And for the face mostly what i seen is beautiful and peaceful face. Not like in the movies with super scary and broke face. And what i am afraid because i cannot differentiate the ghost with real human.
3. Tuyul
The third ghost is called Tuyul. I really never seen this one. I think this is really just myth or urban legends. This ghost is like small kids that have age around 6-10 years old that died in accident or killed by human traficking or killed by someone.And many shamans will utilize this kids ghost to help the shaman collect money from rich people. This ghost stealing the rich people money and bring back to shaman. But, in return the shaman needs provide woman that lactating to feed this ghost. The terms is really hard to provide right?? Yeah maybe because that just only the urban legends. But, i dont know for sure. Many old people still believe that this ghost exist especially in outer and old village.
4. Wewe Gombel
The fourth ghost that really famous in my country is called Wewe Gombel. This ghost is haunting the people who killed this woman. So, this woman got killed after he giving birth and still lactating her child. And her soul still having unfinished business especially when the baby died in her hug. When i was a kid. I often heard the story of this ghost. This ghost will searching kids that still playing outside when the night come. Why because this ghost searching for her baby. This ghost having really large and long boobs to feed all the children that she took. But, i never heard this story again after entering 2000 era. Maybe the millenials never tell this story again and the urban legends will fade away as time progresses.
5. Genderuwo
Okay for the last is Genderuwo. I think this urban legend is not about ghost. I think this is called monster. But, This entity is really terrifying and scary. I just once seen this monster when i work in village that really undeveloped at all. There are no modern stuff in that village and my duty to educate the people with the modern stuff. And i encountered with this monster when one of my friends said bad words to haunted house and throwing some alcohol bottle into the haunted house. And what bad is the only human that not drunk is just me. All 5 of my friends are drunks. I realized that all of us just turning around in the same place with same pace and never finding out the way. And after a while turning around at haunted house all the motorcycle suddendly dead. And this monster appear in front of us. Not only me that can seen this monster. All of us can see the same object and exactly same defintion with said same words. Leave me alone,and please respect me or else. And at that time i seen the big person with hairy feet with very long and sharp claw and i cannot see the head only can see until his belly with full of hair. The voice is really deep and hoarse. After that suddenly without trigger all our motorcycle back alive again. And we can see the way out from that place. After that we are never took that road again until we come back home. What i knew about this ghost is this ghost usually protect holy place or like sanctuary to souls or something like that. And whoever touching without permit or badmouthing or act rude will be punished with something by this ghost.
