When you live in Krakow and have no idea where to go for a short trip with children or a romantic picnic, you can go to the viewpoint next to the Balice airport. That place is precisely on the runway line, so landing or taking off planes fly over the viewers' heads. All you have to do is sit on the grass and wait. There are always at least several dozen observers with binoculars and cameras on site in good weather.
The airport is located on the city's northwest outskirts and is surrounded by a charming neighborhood.
And so one summer day, due to the lack of other ideas, I went to the vicinity of the Balice airport. I stopped for a while on the path leading to the viewpoint. I love such landscapes - gentle and harmonious. Nothing impressive, and yet you want to look at them endlessly. Had it not been for the roar of engines, it would have been hard to guess that any civilization was nearby.
At that moment, I almost forgot the true purpose of the trip :)
Finally, I left the green fields and headed towards the highway right next to the airport. There is a viewpoint on its high slope.
Balice is not a big airport, and you have to wait for the plane for several minutes. I took many photos that day, but not many of them are suitable for showing. I have no experience catching moving objects yet. One thing I know for sure - observing planes is addictive. After each take-off or landing, I said: okay, this is just one more, and I will go. And so for two hours :)
Planes you can also observe from other points. I had no idea it would be so much fun to ride around the airport searching for the best vantage points, and I spent half a day in this way.
By the way, I got to know the area better and found ideas for the next trips! From the north, there was a large forest with many walking trails. I took this photo from a clearing at the edge of the forest. I plan to go back there in the late spring :)
So... my best solution for lack of walks ideas? Go anywhere ;)
