Further to my yesterday post, you can see that I am going to meet @mrspointm family in person at Hong Kong, this is the biggest meet up on Hive CN during the post covid era for sure because I was not only meeting with mrspointm’s family but also @cherryzz, another hiver who is living in Shenzhen, and my sister @kathyto also joined for the meet up.

After picking up them at the high-speed train station, we headed to the restaurant immediately as it took much longer than our expect for them to cross border, it would be too late if they put down luggage at the hotel then go eat dinner, Sheya would be starving for sure.

We though the High-speed train station is way away from the MTR station, the google map shows it takes at least 15 mins walk from High-speed train station to the nearest MTR station, sounds the google map is not always accurate.

The restaurant is just one station apart from the place that I picked them up, it took us only 10 minutes+ to get to the bar restaurant including walking on foot from the MRT station at Yau Ma Tei.

Frankly speaking, I am not really familiar with the restaurants upstairs in the commercial buildings nearby, main point is that I spend my time in Shenzhen during weekend now, I still need to check on Google Map to see the exact location of the restaurant.

Fortunately we spotted it in heart beat after we back to the ground, then taking elevator up to the bar to enjoy the air-con for sure, since my sister got a lesson for her daughter, she couldn’t arrive earlier, we simply take a seats and checked out what to order before they arrive.

Sometimes the foods don’t really matter, the vibe does. All of us were excited finally seeing each other in person, and they kept looking at the menu then asked anything else is on the to eat list.

I ordered one salad and appetizer plus 2 main dishes for ourselves before we sister arrives, my main concern was about Sheya, the daughter of mrspointm, really worry she feels starving after 10 hours plus of the journey.

The restaurant serves foods quite quickly, everything we ordered were served in 15 minutes, we barely started eating and my sister was here as well. Total we had got table for 9 on that night, I couldn’t tell when was the last dinner that I eat with so many people at the same time in Hong Kong.

It was funny to seeing my nieces felt surprise there were so many people there, especially they saw Sheya then they couldn’t wait to ask me who’s that kid, I said she’s the daughter of my friend. At the beginning all of them felt shy to talk and play with each other due to the language barrier, at the moment my nieces speak English and Cantonese, but Sheya speaks Mandarin Chinese only.

I tired very hard to ask them playing together but it was struggling, all of them were kinda shy, and not really willing to talk each other until Sheya told me that she wants to play video console (actually she means the Switch) with my nieces, what a smart girl, I should figure out this way earlier.

Thus, I asked mrspointm take out the Switch and tablet and see if the video game or cartoon helps them to break the ice among each other. And that works!!!! Once they have the cartoon on the tablet they started talk and play together, I was released finally then able to talk to mrspoints, cherryzz.

Time really flies, we were there for nearly 2 hours but felt like only 20 minutes passed, since I needa back to work on Monday and they needed to go Disney in the next day, we couldn’t stay in the restaurant for too long.

I was my pleasure to meet them in Hong Kong after met she and her family for nearly 4 years on Hive, most importantly I was the host of the biggest meet up on Hive CN community after the pandemic, it has a special meaning to me for sure.

Will try to contribute and dedicate much more to the Hive platform and also the CN community in the future as I do. Look forward to the next meetup with other hivers, it can be in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Taiwan, US, UK, everywhere as long as the place where got hiver on CN.
