Hello everyone, back with another series. I've heard a lot of good things about this series and have been wanting to watch it for a long time. It lived up to my expectations, I devoured this one in a couple of days hehe. "Shogun" is an epic drama series based on James Clavell's classic novel and from 2024.😃
The series takes place in feudal Japan in the 17th century and follows the English sailor John Blackthorne, played by Cosmo Jarvis, who ends up in Japan after a shipwreck. He quickly becomes involved in the complex political power struggle between the Japanese warlords. The series is visually stunning, with beautiful scenery and authentic costumes that give you a feeling of being present in this fascinating period. The acting performances are strong, especially from Jarvis as Blackthorne. Hiroyuki Sanada also shines as Lord Toranaga, a powerful warlord with his own ambitions.
I like the story and found it well written, with intrigue, alliances and betrayal that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the series. The director has done a great job of balancing action and drama, and the cultural differences between Blackthorne and the Japanese characters and I was left laughing at the challenge he faces. As mentioned, this one surprised me positively. Definitely worth watching for fans of historical dramas. This is a solid 8.
